Traveing I-80 between Sacramento and SF

I noticed the trucks were all doing 55 in the construction area near Vacaville. Found out why when I saw a CHP car pull behind a motorhome towing who was traveling about 65. It appears that the CHP must have the attention of truckers in the construction areas but that RVer didn't notice.
Much of I-80 on both sides of Sacramento is under construction. Maybe we should 55 when towing to keep from getting one of those double the normal going rate fines for speeding in a construction area. That is going to be one very expensive fine.
I'd expect that a lot of municipalities will be looking for more moving violations in order to add to the city coffers with the economy the way it is and tax revenues down.

Carol I am not sure how you can miss it but all the highways in California are 55 MPH if you are towing anything . Period If you had a utility trailer behind your car , you are limited to 55MPH in CA . The signs are all over the place. Your Toad is considered a trailer.

Yep! We have noticed the 55 when towing. Another good reason to by-pass Calif. when every we can.

Hello Ron,

I know that the CA law is 55 MPH when towing. My message was to those who feel they don't have to follow that law. Sorry you misunderstood my message.

Hi:

I hate to travel this area. I do have to on occasion. Much of the road is like a washboard, especially after the I5 joiner.

I heard from a CA state official that if we put nitrogen or helium in our tires, it will lift the coach up above the bumps and we will have a smooth ride. At least that is type of logic our wonderful legislators in Sacramento use. We have yet to try it as we are just a wee bit skeptical of anything said by these 'trusted' officials.
Oops getting political .. J

Hi:

Highways in CA are ignored even though we pass bonds to improve them. This is not political...just a fact.
