Clean the connections, first.

if that does not do it the controller failed, it is not getting 12 volts, or a sensor has failed, high is the default mode.

Stan, Didn't you say you had PTO problems as well? They are possibly connected as the PTO drives the fan hydraulics. Bypassing the controller sets the fans on all the time. Stan Inspire 2005 # 51406I have another issue with my Fan to cool the engine. About three months ago the fan to cool the engine stopped working. We were ready to take a long trip. John, our mechanic fixed it so I could turn the fan off and on with a switch he put in the cab. This was by-passing the controller that turns the fan on med, high or off. It worked for about 10,000 miles. The last week of our trip I realized that it was always on high speed no matter what I do. John told me this morning he hooked up the wiring like it should be to the controller, and no matter what he did it would only operate at full speed. Bob, You are exactly correct, I do have a PTO issue. The mechanic hooked up the wiring to the controller and it would only work on high speed. Originally when he hooked up by-passing the controller he wired a switch so I could turn it off and on. Currently, it does not seem to matter., if hooked to the controller it runs at full speed no matter what you do, just like when it was by-passed and the switch was on. FWIW, I was told that the engine cooling fan will default to high speed when the dash air is on or when the fan fuse is blown.
