Heat Exchanger Fans

Yahoo Message Number: 54965
Hello All

The heat exchanger fans in our 08 Intrigue vary in speed while operating. They do not shut off but simply speed up and slow down while heating the coach. They provide plenty of heat from the Aqua-Hot but the sound changes are just slightly annoying.
Chris Snyder (ex CC guru in Tucson) and I spent hours tracing wiring and confirming that the power source (12 volt) was stable - we even direct wired the fans to his truck battery and they still varied in speed.
Chris called Doug Beaudry who told Chris that the fans were manufactured by Heater Craft. Chris called Heater Craft and they told him that CC ordered 24 volt fans but powered them with 12 volts to reduce the fan noise. They also said that the speed variations were normal with this type of setup.
Has anyone else here with a later model CC and Aqua Hot system had this fan speed variation issue?

Kindest Regards,

Brad Burgess

Brad The fans DO vary in sound while the heat is on, on my coach , as well. It's nice to know what is causing it. It does not bother us. I suspect, the output of the inverter/charger from say 13 to 13.8 would cause that if it is a 24 volt motor. As a point of interest, you might watch the Silverleaf , to notice a change. I have a friend who also has an 09 Magna who does not belong to this forum to confirm his fans modulate in Sound .

Brad,

I have an 09 Allure that has a speed variation in the rear heat exchanger fan. I have not noticed it in the front, Glad you were able to come up with a cause. I was not worried enough to try to locate the reason, but it was annoying.

I have a 08 intrique and the bedroom heat exchanger fan speed is up and down like a bad brg or low voltage but checking the voltage it is at 13.8 so that's not the problem but to get at the fan to check brg looks like a big job as the exchanger is under the washer/ dryer anyone else have this problem need some advice thanks
