Hurricane Front and Galley Zone Fan Failure!

Yahoo Message Number: 55116
I just got my Christmas present. The shore power failed here, so I am using my Hurricane. Everything was working fine for about 30 minutes, and suddenly, the Living Room and Galley fans (zone 1)both stopped working. This has never happened before. There is hot water circulating to the radiators, but the fans will not turn on. There is no error message on the Hurricane readout. The bedroom fans are working fine and heating. The Dometic thermostat is calling for heat on zone one and I reset it just to be sure. Nothing. I checked the 10 and 15 amp fuses in the Hurricane control unit. All good. Any ideas? Help!

Sounds like it could be a thermostat issue. The furnace thermostat wiring goes through the AC circuit board. Zone 1 on mine goes through the front AC. There is a telephone-like wire connection that is accessable from inside the LR ceiling that you might try disconnecting and reconnecting. I also remember seeing a fuse up top when I removed the AC cover, but don't know for sure if it's related to the furnace. It is behind the aluminum cover on the AC itself.
If you shut off zone 2 (and hot water tank) and try to run zone 1, does the burner ignite? If not, that tells me it's not getting the signal through the themostat to turn it on.
Just some thoughts to hopfully get the brain juices flowing. At least you can cozy up in the BR for the night. Hope you get it fixed!

Larry, I suspected that. All I can tell you I checked those phone plug connections in the AC and all seems fine. Zone 1 heat pump works. Hurricane burner ignite and runs when zone 1 calls for furnace heat. Only thing that seems to be affected is the fans in zone 1. No way both fans burned out at once. My wiring diagram in CC manual shows only fuse for those is in Hurricane control box and those seem fine. It seems no juice getting to zone 1 fans. I assume that has to be coming from Hurricane control unit?

Rich,

Can you check to be sure you are getting 12 volts to the fan motors. It may be the power circuit for the fans that the issue.

Mikee, as soon as it warms up, as I planned, I have looked at the wiring diagram and I will check for voltage at the fan output terminals on the control unit with the zone on. I doubt there is voltage at the fans themselves since there are two separate fans one for the LR and one for the galley. I really doubt both burned out simultaneously. I cannot find any inline fuse or relay in the coach hydronic heat wiring diagram. If there is one, someone please tell me.

Without seeing the wiring diagram, I suspect the heater controls the fan via a relay, the input to that relay is most likely fused. the fuse may even be within the heater. Worth a look.

Well, Mikee, I checked for voltage at both the fan terminals on the controller. Checked out, but fans still not working. Now the fans started working. No loose connections. Only difference is that I am now on shore power. I will call ITR on Monday. Thanks!
