Looking for a vent grill to place in my engine access door.

Hello all,

I want to install a vent grill and having a difficult time finding one. I can have one made, but like the one that I've seen on a 2006 Inspire. It's 3' wide and 12" high and could easily be powered coated to match and riveted in place. Got to match or I'm be in trouble with the wife. She is already nervous about me cutting a hole in the engine access door.

I had a grill made for our 2002 Intrigue and it came out very good. We have had many complements on the quality of the workmanship of the grill. It is made from polished al. From what I can recall it is 1/4" thick. The person who makes them has a machine shop with computerized milling machines. The grills come polished and look very good. Dave is the owner operator and does a lot of work for military aircraft companies and is as honest as the day is long. His grills come with all the attaching hardware. When installed you can not see any of the attaching hardware since he taps the back side of the grill. I know of several other individuals who purchased the grills and they are all pleased with the quality and cost. Daves phone number is 775-885-8911.

Forgive me, I have not followed all the comments on the vent grill so may be off base but here are my comments.

If you want more air circulation by changing out the rear grill why not consider these two options. 1. Make a simple fixture to hold the grill open when driving. This would allow maximum ventilation without much cost. You cant see the grill when you are driving and once at the site just remove the fixture and close the door for the duration of your stay.

2. Why not just remove the existing door, router out the center and attach open wire mesh. Would be a lot cheaper then Al.

Seems like someone may even have a spare fiber glass door to practise on!

Just a thought.
