Fresh Water Shuttle Valve Stuck

Yahoo Message Number: 3996
Two weeks ago I drained our fresh water tank to replenish with some better tasting water. I opened All three drain values next to the water pump and waited for the slow draining process to happen. The tank and fresh water system sat empty for two weeks. This past weekend I filled the tank and turned on the pump to pressurize the system but the pump runs continuously and no pressure in the system.. I hooked up the city water connection and can hear water filling the tank until it comes out the over flow. I recall others in the past discussing a stuck shuttle valve. I cannot find the valve. Where is it located? The plumbing schematic does not indicate its location. How did others solve the problem, besides replacing the valve? I wonder if by tapping on the value the shuttle spool will free itself and start function normally.
Unfortunately this is not a self induced situation, except for draining my water and letting the system set empty for two weeks. There is not warning in the manual about this possibly happening. And the city connection filling and overflowing the tank is real and not a myth.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Boy, this Information Group has been savior, in me realizing I'm not the only one with challenges of the Luxury Coach Variety.

Lee,

The only time that I have encountered this "problem" is when I fail to close the fill valve. I think what happens is that the pump starts pumping and continues to refill itself from your fresh water tank back into the fresh water tank. If that is what's happening to you try turning the valve on and off a time or two to see if that is your problem.

If the pump stops and pressurizes the system then you have your answer. If not...... I'm lost.

Let us know.

Dick: Thanks for the obivious Idea of Circuit breaker for Electrical Control of Water Heater.. I was trying to make things too difficult daaaaaa.
Regarding the Fresh water Shuttle Valve. I did let the pump run for considerable amount of time, with not luck, There is a Rotary T-Handle valve next to the phone connection plug that is not mentioned in our manual I've turned it both directions with no change in water pressure status.. Why I suspect the shuttle valve is that when the city water circuit is presurized the fresh water tank fills until it overflows.. I thought that shuttle valve was suppose to keep the city water out of the fresh water tank when that circuit is pressured with city water pressure... But I will give it another try tonight when I get home from making money so that we can hit the road full time in 23 months.. and counting....
Thanks for your Help

That T valve sounds like the one. It is turned one way to fill the tank (until it overflows) then a 1/4 turn to stop the fill and divert the city water to the distribution system throughout the coach. During all of this the water pump should be turned off. If the pump is left on it will run during the fill operation and will run forever.

If you system is not functioning as above then there may be a problem with the valve. On my coach, with no city water connection, and the pump on... if I turn the valve to the fill position the pump will run continuously. When I close the valve the pump stops.

I hope I understood you situation properly.

Lee, I also have an 01 Intrigue, and learned the solution to your problem myself the hard way. The switch in the water compartment the allows the pump to pump water into the water tank has to be closed, or returned to the vertical, for the water pump to be able to pressurize the system. good luck in your continued learning of the systems. The're a lot of fun
