Electrical Storms...do you unhook? Experiences, please...

We are now in Temple, TX where the Texas storms are "Texas- size"...huge.

I'd like to hear how people who experience frequent electric storms deal with them. Have you ever had lightning hit nearby and if so, did your electrical surge protector that CC puts in the coaches work to protect you? Or do you disconnect from "the post" whenever storms are nearby? (including water, cable, phone)I don't want to risk frying all the electronics we have onboard! But then again, I don't want to unhook if I don't have to.
