Bose Spearker in 1st slide out -- how to get them to produce sound?

Have a 2000 Affinity #5825 -- wonderful coach Bose system works fine inside but i have 2 speaker in the forward bay on the passenger side that have their own power supply. But I'll be darn if i can get them to produce any sound. The Bose has 2 zones with two remotes -- I can get the Bose system to the zone 2 but still no sound --- anyone with some experience out there!!!

The spearkers have there own volume switch on one of them.

I've tried that too == one has a volume control and the second speaker is just a add on. Do you control these speakers with the "zone 2" remote?

As Kevin points out, the "master" bay speaker has a volume control that is also an on/off switch... Turn the switch on and continue turning to about 2 o'clock... You should have sound.
If still no sound, trace the wires from the "master" bay speaker (the one with the on/off/volume control) back to the Bose unit and make sure the red plug is plugged into the R (right) SPEAKERS B OUTPUT and the black plug is plugged into the L (left) SPEAKERS B OUTPUT.
My remotes don't control the bay speakers... you control the bay speakers with the switch/volume control on the master speaker...just turn on the switch and turn up the volume control when you want to hear them and turn it off when you don't want to hear them...

Dave I had a 1999 magna with the external bose speakers the were plugged into a 110 outlet in the first bay they would play what ever was on in the coach if you turned up the volume on the one speaker. Check and make sure it is plugged in and that there is power to the speakers.

Sorry it took so long to respond, just got home from the shop. Yes you control it with the zone 2 remote. Make sure the Bose is showing it is on Zone 2. I had a little trouble trying to get mine to come on about 3 weeks ago. I kind of remember having to turn the bose off with the zone 1 remote then turn it on with the zone 2 remote. It's in storage right now about 25 miles away. I've got to deliver some F16 parts out that direction in the next couple of days. If you can wait till I can make it out there I could swing by and verify what I have to do to make them come on. Let me Know? Kevn Burns

Thanks Ken -- that would be great. I did check that they are plugged in and do have power. Are connected to Bose system at least at the speakers -- hard to tell as the Bose system isn't movable and has a cover over the rear of the system. Look forward to your reply.

I am certain that our various and sundry coachs have differrent Bose systems and are configured in various ways.
My 'ol '99 Magna #5653 has the Bose "Lifestyle 5" system. The control unit is on the cabinet directly behind the drivers seat, and the Bose "Acoustimass Bass module is in the cabinet behind the drivers seat.
On my coach, the control unit appears to be mounted permanently to the top of the cabinet, but upon closer examination, I discovered it is simply held down with velcro tape. By applying gentle upward pressure, the unit can be removed from the top of the cabinet which allows access to the input/output terminals on the back of the control unit. There is plenty of "slack" in the wires to allow you to turn it around so you can see the terminals.
As to the Acoustimass Bass module, it is accessed by removing the doors in the cabinet behind the driver's seat. These doors are held by a screw in each corner, and are easily removed. There are other inputs/outputs plus bass and treble controls on the Acoustimass unit, so you may want to get in there and adjust them to your liking.
In my particular configuration, the speakers inside the coach are connected to the Acoustimass Bass unit, and the Powered speakers in the bay are connected to the "Speaker B" output terminals on the control unit.
Having Mr Bose's manual in my grubby little hands, I can confirm that the speakers are configured as the Bose manual suggests.
If I had a scanner, I would scan this info and post it, but having no scanner, I am going to copy, directly from the Bose manual, what Mr Bose says about controling the various speakers with the remotes.
Here it is (and I quote) from page 6 of the Bose Lifestlye Remote Owner's Guide:

"Controlling Secondary Speakers

The Lifestyle RC-5 remote can control either main speakers or secondary speakers, not both.
With a Lifestyle 10 System, the RC-5 is set so it will adjust the volume and mute zone 2 speakers only.
With a Lifestyle 3, 5, or 12 System, the RC-5 controls the programming and volume for both listening areas. However, it will mute only main or secondary speakers, depending on how it is set."

I also have the RC-25 remote, but don't have the manual for it. As it is configured, it will switch the speakers in the coach from "Surround" to "Stereo+Center" or to "Stereo", it will mute or un-mute all of the speakers, but it will not control the powered speakers in the front bay independently.
As my system is configured, if I want to hear the speakers in the bay, I simply turn them on and turn up the volume with the on/off/volume control on the master bay speaker. When I don't want to hear them or don't want to disturb the neighborhood, (yes, they are quite loud) I simply turn down the volume or turn the bay speakers off with the switch on the master bay speaker.
I also have the info on how to set the dip switches on the remotes to control various zones and other functions, but it is too involved to try to re-type here. If anyone has need of such info, please email me directly, telling me which remote you have, and I will reply with the info needed for your particular situation, copied directly from Mr Bose's Manual.

Yes I was able to get them to work -- they were never broken -- I just never knew how to turn them on. Had the coach for over 2 years and had checked everything. Power to the plug, power going into the basement speakers, speakers hooked up. Then someone mentioned the zone 2 remote control. It had always been where we found it when we bought the coach - in the bedroom (couldn't get it to work anything in there). So thanks to those that helped out. We figured out that the basement speakers are Zone 2. It has to be turned on from the zone 2 remote control and then you can select what input you want played thru those speakers. Worked fine now that the "user" understands the system.
