Towing 2009 Chevy Tahoe

Yahoo Message Number: 61736
We've been towing a 2009 Chevy Tahoe and tonight when we disconnected we could not get the transfer case out of N (neutral) so therefore we're stuck in neutral and we can't move the car. Any suggestions how to get it out of neutral? Thanks for any help - this group is the best.

Paul, need to take it to a dealer,a friend had the same problem and I've had the opposite where it would not go into neutral. The same dealer hooked up a laptop and reflashed the brain(wish I could do that sometimes)

Hi,

We just got a new 2010 Tahoe, and haven't towed it yet. So don't have anything on the transfer case problem. I do have a question. Where did you mount your electrical female plug on the Tahoe so the motorhome activates the lights (turn signals, brakes, etc.) on the Tahoe? Also, do you have an air line to the Tahoe for an aux. braking? If so, where did you mount that fitting on the Tahoe?
Any info will be much appreciated, as I am in the process of setting up our 2010 to tow.

Hi,

We mounted the electrical connector on the drivers side front bumper near the blue ox connector - there seems not to be a great stop to attach it. We do not have an air line for an auxiliary brake line - we were told we didn't need one but I do think it is a smart thing to do. We house our coach in Montana and travel in the northern area - not as much traffic but an emergency can happen anywhere.. If you would like a picture of the electrical attachment - I'd be happy to take one and attach. Pat

A lot of people may jump on this BUT I believe that according to Montana law ANY TRAILER OVER 3000 pounds requires a braking system. Now yes your Tahoe is a car, when you are driving it, but when you are towing it behind your motorhome it is then a trailer and I'm sure it's over 3000#. So best get a braking system. Or hope that your lawyer is better than mine in case of an accident. :) :) :)
