Allison trans question

I checked my transmission with the dip stick and it shows it full. Oil comes up over the hot fill mark. When I test it with the touch pad I get the following OL first screen -- the second screen and TL on third screen, Don't find TL anywhere in my manual. Its on a 2007 Allure with 425 Cummins. Wondering what TL stands for? Too low? Don 31588

Don, I think that the "TL" code is referring to fluid temperature being Too Low. Fluid must be at least 160 to get a remote level reading if my memory is right.

TL means the temperature was too low to give an accurate reading. it needs to be over 140 or 145 degrees

I agree TL means temp too low to get an accurate reading. Your Allison trans manual should have the code translations and reading methods spelled out.
I check mine after pulling in for the night or at an interstate rest stop.
You started your post saying the dipstick showed over the full mark. This is not correct to permit to happen if accurate, the transmission may be overfilled which can cause foaming and problems just like an overfilled engine. Due to the fact manufacturers did (and do) not take great care setting up trans dip stick tubes for accuracy I don't use the dip stick for determining trans fill level at all. The internal sensors built into the transmission are accurate if the coach is level and warmed to the proper operating temp, use them instead following the user manual.
I am pretty sure a user manual is in the files section. If not it should take about 30 seconds using a search engine on the web to find one.

Thank you all for the info on TL I rechecked manual and did not see anything in code section about TL. TL does mean low temp. I only let it warm up to about 120. Again thank you all.

Bob, Know that I was not overfilled because I had just drained nine qts. ( not by choice ) when they pulled the PTO. Before I put new oil in I checked with dipstick and got reading showing it was above full. I then tested with the buttons, only went to about 130 and got the TL reading. After warming the engine to correct temp. I got the OK reading. Dipstick is still showing its overfilled. Was told by that the dipsticks are not always correct. Had a dipstick reading problem on my Newmar with Cat engine a few years ago. Stick showed level was correct. After cleaning back of coach and my car from all the oil that blew out. Found that stick had to be redone and different full and low marks were notched on the stick. Thanks all for the help on TL reading. Icheck my manual again and it did not have a TL code.
