Water hose

Yahoo Message Number: 61975
I had a water hose split on me on the road requiring emergency service. The hose goes from the radiator reservoir to the turbo charger. The mechanic who repaired it said that it is the wrong kind of hose being that it is 5/8 OD gas hose not designed for high heat. The end of the hose was brittle and falling apart. It was also extremely difficult to get to. The radiator fill is also difficult to fill if you are using a bucket instead of a hose. (I have since bought a funnel)
I could not get to the rear of the engine, I cannot find the bolt heads to release the panel in the bedroom. I have a side mounted bed.
Has anyone done anything about these hoses? Replace them on a regular basis? Replace them with a higher temp rated hose? Reroute them?

Thanks,

John, your bedroom setup may be like mine. You raise the bed and look at the carpet in front of the rear closet. If you find the outline of a rectangular cut line in the carpet, that is your access point.
Use a flat metal tool, like a pry bar to get into the cut gap to lift the carpet-covered plywood rectangle, which is held in place with Velcro. Then you will find the bolt heads to release the panel.

I had a similar problem with those small hoses one failed on our return trip from Oregon where we bought the home, the mechanic said the same thing but after calling the supply house that is the best hose, so I had him change all three of them.
My 06 Inspires has six bolts that hold the access panel down it is a square piece between the bed and the closet, six bolt three on the bed side and three along the mirror closet railing, I had to loosen the screws that hold the railing enougy to move it back some and get to the bolts. The panel is very heavy, pry it up at the edge and move it aside. Let me lnow if you need any more help.
