Lets talk Black Tank's!

Our 04 Allure, has the two button control on the throne. One flushess, the other adds a bit of water to the bowl.
After dumping, I like to add 3-5 gallons into the black tank. Can this be done other then standing over the throne and filling bowl for 30 seconds (10-15 button pushes), the flushing - repeat for what seems like for ever....

Any way to 'seed' the black tank after dumping?

TIA,
Smitty

Smitty,

After you dump and spray clean your black tank, close your dump valve and leave your spray cleaner on for a few seconds. The fill rate will depend on water pressure from source and hose diameter.

Smitty,

On my Thetford Aria (same as yours I believe) if you push both the water fill and the flush buttons at the same time it will open the valve and leave it open with no flush water running. Push the flush button and it will return to normal.
My 2004 Allure came with a tank flush installed in the water bay. In my case I would use it to add the water you want. I usually close the dump valve and 1/2 fill the tank every time I dump it. However experience says do not get talking to someone and forget. It will eventually come out the vent stack all over the roof.
BTW, just as a point of information, the Thetford Aria has a water saver mode that is activated by a switch in the back of the flush (no easy to find). In this mode the flush valve will only move toward open as long as you hold you finger on the flush button then return when you remove your finger. This mode is terrific for boondocking. With a little practice you can get buy with less water than any other flush that I have had.

Don - Thanks!

I'll be out at the rig later today, and will hug the throne (not like in my 20's!). See if I can find the switch. Good tip on the outside flush add, a "Duh!" moment...

We keep a bucket in the shower. While waiting for the hot water that initial cold water goes in the bucket. It is then used for the toilet either flushing or adding water after dumping. When we're dry camping the grey water gets full faster so we can channel some of the grey to the black tank this way as well. We have a small bowl in the bathroom sink that we use the same way.
