Ongoing education of Smitty - RC7GS settings?

Yahoo Message Number: 62016
Yesterday I was reviewing the settings on the RC7GS. After thinking about this some, please help me confirm I'm on the right brain waves:
1) Battery Capacity
-Is set at 125 A

-I have two 245 A AGM batterie, so I was thinking I should double these and set to the 500 A level? (Battery Type is set to AGM.)

2) External Shunt

- Is set to 'None'

However the coach has two 110 panels, going thru a BZ - 240 controller.
So, would not this be considered an external shunt? (Now, understand I will be doing WiKi on just what the heck a Shunt is - assume a valve of some kind. Indicating that the batteries had multiple charge sources.)
The BZ - 240 has three LED lights of Green/Yellow/Red, with all three lights on when I'm at 100% charge.
I will download and print the RC7GS manual (I'm missing two or three key manuals from the Big Box of paper work that came with the coach. This manual is one that is missing, along with the BZ - 240)

Many thanks for any info,
Smitty

Smitty,

I do not have a Battery Capacity setting on my RC7GS remote panel.
The internal shunt in the inverter provides the data to the remote controller to determine the State of Charge (SOC). SOC is not directly related to the battery voltage. SOC is a critical component when using the auto-genstart feature.
Even though I also have a 2004 Allure I am not sure what a BZ-240 controller is. I could have one but I have not heard the term nor do I have any manuals in the box and my set is complete.

I think the BZ-240 is the charge controller for the solar panels...

Smitty, I have the same battery capacity. I am set to battery capacity of 500AH which I suggest is correct for you as well. None is the correct setting for external shunt as our shunt is internal to the inverter/charger.

Don, I think you do have a Battery Capacity setting on your RC7GS controller. You will find it in the Setup Menu which you enter by depressing and holding both the up and down arrows simultaneously. Ten down arrow a few times to get to the subject setting.

George,

You are correct. I must have skipped right by it earlier. Mine is set to auto. Not sure what funtion it serves. Course I could read the manual again.

Thanks,

buck, Don, George.- Thanks!

I found the manuals for both of the units in a brown envelope, at the bottom of the box. The BZ240 is the solar panel controller. Not real sure about this unit, as it has a green/yellow/red led panel, with all thee lights glowing. The manual does not indicate what that is supposed to mean. I'll have fun looking at this, and trying to find out if the two 110 panels will keep me charged while parked between trips. Have about 4 hours of good sun.

Having fun,
Smitty
