replacing agm battery

I have 4 lifeline agm for my house batteries one needs to be replaced. I have a friend that owns a Napa store and can get me a Napa agm with the same spec. 1st does having different manu. of batteries in a bank of batteries make any difference . 2nd if having different batteries is ok has anyone had any experience with the Napa 8D gel?

Rule of thumb for batteries, if one is bad in a bank they all need to be replaced. The bank will only be as good as the weakest battery. The new one will be drawing down by the old ones. If they are of the same age then the others are not far behind in failure.

Tom I just bought 4 new lifeline GPL 4CT from Centex Bat out of Texas and he sold them to me for $242 plus shipping. No battery deposit or tax. The total to Okc, Ok was $1048. His work number is 512-308 9002 and his name is Marc. He was great to deal with and the batteries were here in 2 days just like he said. He actually quoted me a freight charge and I agreed and when he went to ship them UPS gave him a better rate and he called me back with the good news that it was cheaper. And I also agree with the other guy in that if you have one bad battery it effects all of them so its better to replace all at one time. Mine were 6 years old. Roger Bryan with Monaco Executive

It is my understanding that when replacing gel mats, all must be replaced at the same time. I do not understand why but it has something to do with life expectancy of this type of battery as opposed to trying to make a bigger sale. R0d5206 '07 Allure #31463

A consideration:
Our coach has two 8D house batteries. One has a shorted cell and is drawing down the other battery. Since we always stay in RV parks and plug in, I decided to disconnect the bad one and just let it sit. The remaining 8D is sufficient for just about everything except boondocking. I can now wait until either the remaining 8D shows signs of defeat, or until I can get a good deal on two replacements. Been that way now for almost a year. (OK, I procrastinate a lot.)

To re-iterate All batteries in a bank , must be of the same style ( AGM , wet cell etc ), size , Amp-hr rating, and age. The charging device would not charge the bank properly ( it charges to whatever voltage it sees ) if any of these parameters were different. When one battery in a bank goes bad and the voltage drops in that battery and it then draws from the other batteries in the bank. Therefore any thing that causes the voltage to be different, provides the same effect. If one replaces one battery and then goes a year before replacing the rest , causes the same effect listed above. In essence , you must replace the bank as above or eventually have shortened life of the bank

Thanks for the input on replacing bad battery. Any thought about the Napa agm compared to the lifeline agm?

I do not recall any bad experiences or press on Lifeline batteries. You get what you pay for.
