Thinking of a trip to San Diego (from Las Cruces) and then on up to the city by the bay. I have checked the directories, etc. and it looks like RV parks run from grim to bad. Any clues? Lyle Wetherholt

Lyle, We live in San Diego. Chula Vista is a suburb of San Diego, and has two of the finest RV Parks you have been in. I would recommend ether of the two, Currently we are Banff Canada, otherwise could have a drink together. I haven't stayed at the San Diego KOA, but agree with Stan on the Chula Vista RV Resort. Been there twice and will go back again. Great resort.

Thanks for the input. I know Chula Vista is great but it is SFO that I am having difficulty with. Jim Spivey suggested Petaluma so I will check on that.

I know it's a few hours south but the Laguna Seca park in Monterey is a great stop. You can access Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, San Jose, etc.
We also stayed at the Rio Vienta RV Park off hwy. 160 near Rio Vista. It is fairly new, very clean but still 50 miles to downtown SF - sort of in the middle of nowhere. The road into this place was a bit rough. We didn't get any further into the city - went to Monterey instead.

You can try Coyote RV Resort in Morgan Hill.. it is about an hour south of San Francisco.

Try Candelstick Rv Park. asphalt, 50 amp small spaces, but clean and close to city. Check 49'rs schedule for home games which will be a traffic mess for a day.

We just stayed last week at half moon bay, pelican point rv park. The park is old, but had all we needed. Right off the ocean, surounded on two sides by the Ritts Carlton Grand hotel golf course. We stayed a week, 29 miles up Hwy 1 is SFO. My wife loved it, we will go back
