Electric draw with domestic battery disconnect switch off

Appreciate any feedback regarding how long a coach can sit without a trickle charge, and having the domestic battery disconnect is turned off? I know there is continued electric draw despite the disconnect switch being off.

We have an '06 Inspire and if we leave the coach unplugged with the battery disconnect just inside the door turned off we will have dead house batteries in 4 to 5 days due to the parasetic draws. I would imagine yours would be dead faster since you have a lot more goodies on a newer Magna than our Inspire. We used to leave our's plugged in to 50 amp all the time but then worried about the batteries and possible fire. We installed a house disconnect switch at the house batteries and now when we leave the coach we turn off both those switches and all is well when we return. We have left it for 8 weeks before without an issue. We try to go on a cruise in the coach once a month if we aren't on the road but can't always do that. We do have to reset the radio stations but that's ok with us. Hope that helps you some.

Ron,

In my coach, I measure a 0.2 amp draw on the batteries with the main switches turned off. That is 4.8 amps per day, 33.6 amps per week, or 144 amps per month. If your draw is similar, the size of your battery bank will tell you how long you can go before recharging.

Thanks for the information. Ordinarily the repair shops I use have elect. hookups, and when at home I have a 50 amp plug. The installation of a house disconnect switch at the house batteries is something to consider. I am unaware of any parasite fixtures / appliances that will not survive an extended period without power feed.

Ron,

I forgot that when CC was still around I ran the idea past Herb in support. He said all would be good but to remember not to lock the door with the remote and then disconnect the power. Could pose a big problem when you want to unlock it.

Just ordered AGM batteries (4) from Staab, Aurora, IL my home town, 6 Amp @ 264 ea. FYI
I purchased Trojan AGM 6 Amp 3 years ago. We dont dry camp as we overnight at GC. Why the batteries gave up there charge is beyond me. I am not sure that the folks who installed the batteries did any programming on Xantran I dont know. I did call CC but got bad advise which I didnt know at the time.
Side ? intend to use Speedco, Gary Ind for oil lube filter when we go to Florida next month. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks 05 Inspire 51380

I used Speedco in Ripon, CA. last fall and could not be happier. Great service, best prices. $212.00 for oil filter and 2 fuel filter, oil and water analysis, used 37 qt. of oil. I'm heading for Florida next month and plan on having service done at one the Speedco's there.

I used Speedco last year, was not happy. Developed drip from the pan plug. Found out they did not install a gasket. So had to pay another mechanic to put on a new gasket. I lost about a quart in the process. I now use WW Williams.

Jack, just to show how things can go: I used WW Williams 2 years ago. The tech failed to tighten the oil cap on my CAT causing it to come off, the serpentine belt to come to pieces a day later on the road, damaging the A/C compressor clutch. They made it good, but it was a nightmare. Last year I used Speedco somewhere in AZ and they did a perfect job. I had to stand there and verify that the cap had been tightened, the drain plug torqued and sign. They even have an on site oil analysis machine.
