Red Parking Light Indicator Light

I'm parked at Mountainview in Creede, Colorado at the CC Texans Rally and just noticed my red parking light indicator warning light on the dash is on. We've been here two weeks and it has not been on before. Any ideas as to why it would suddenly decide to come on?

Thanks Mike. I turned the key on to check the pressure and noticed that the step didn't come in as usual. Tried to start the engine and the nothing happens. Dead. Appears battery is either dead or something else has occurred. The silver leaf showed "water in fuel" a few miles from here, so about 5 days ago I purged the filter and evidently emptied it. I ran the battery down while trying to start the engine and had to use the house batteries to get it to finally fire up. I thought that the echo charger would charge the engine battery back up while sitting here, but evidently it didn't. I'll fire up the engine here in a little bit (don't want to disturb my neighbors right now) and see what happens and also put a battery charger on engine batteries until to tomorrow when we hope to leave. Anyone with any other thoughts?

The Echo Charger doesn't supply enough amperage to charge a low battery. It merely tops it off and maintains the float charge. Does the generator work/start? Bob, we put a meter to my starting batteries and they are only at about 1.5 volts. When I start the engine by using the boost the alternator is putting out about 13. I'm driving about ten hours tomorrow. so if they are going to charge up it won't be until then. They may be flatlined and not take a charge, but I won't know until tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

I would assume you have a lead

acid battery and it is also the original by the age of your coach. These batteries don't like to be completely discharged and left that way, especially for any length of time. If your battery is bad and you drive it for 10 hours it could cause your alternator to fail by causing it to output to many amps for to long thus causing it to overheat. Some echo chargers output 10 amps and others like mine output 15 amps. Batteries generally like to be charged at a lower amps., because they stay cooler. You should be able to charge it with a 1 amp trickle charger if the battery impedance is low enough and you have enough time to wait. If you've put it on an external charger and it still is showing 1.5v then do yourself a favor and replace the battery before you leave.
