Engine Access Hatch

Yahoo Message Number: 63670
Hi All,

I thought that I would report back on an earlier post requesting help in getting top access to My 370 ISL to change the thermostat. Thanks to all that offered help but in the end my coach was different from anyone else that I heard from.
In my coach the access hatch is one piece and fairly large. It is about the width of 1/2 the wardrobe closet and extends under the bad frame such that about 1/4 of it is under the bed. There is no access inside the closet. I checked with a CC tech and verified the way to remove it. It is not easy but I got lucky. My ISL unlike many Cummins engines has only one thermostat instead of 2. The shop was able to change it from the rear exterior access panel. It was bad.
So I have only walked through the process of removing the access cover but I will provide the details if anyone is interested. There seems to be very few coaches configured this way, thank heavens. The coach is a 2004 40 ft Allure Newport with a 370 ISL Cummins.
