Tetons

Hi. We are currently at Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone. It is wonderful - clear, sunny days and cold nights. The park is busier than we thought it would be this time of year.
Have been thinking about driving our Inspire through the park and down through the Tetons on the way south after our stay. I know that many have talked about driving through the Tetons so I am assuming that it is not a problem. I am asking those who have done that trip if there are any particular issues or "course knowledge" that would be useful.

No problem going from West Yellowstone down into the Tetons. Road work is completed for the season.

I'll second the roads as good. Just went from Teton's a week ago, South Gate out the West Gate to catch 191 North to Montana (great drive on 191 North). We were going to go out the North Gate, but they had work going on from Madison Junction to Norris, so we went out the West, glad we did...
Leave time if you have it, to spend a night or two in Gros Ventre (dry camp, but a special place). Say Hi to the buffalo for us, and the mostly nightly visit of the Big Horned Moose by was a Kodak (Depending on age, let me explain - Kodak was a material that took light, and burned it into a chemically coated hunk of plastic. This was called 'film'... Be before the real cameras of the day, all digital... :)!)
We did enjoy a few nights at Colter Bay also. Can't go wrong at either place.
One place we went to three years ago, and drove thru to see if it had improved, was the Virginian in Jackson. Sure can recommend you try to stay in the other two parks if you can. Gros Ventre, is just a 20 min drive into town... The Virginian, is a good one to skip... IMO.

Another option is to head south out of West Yellowstone. On the way is Henry Lake, reportedly the best trout fishing in the west. A bit further there are two waterfalls to visit and then on south through the Teton Valley (west side of Tetons). A very user friendly campground at Victor, ID and one of the best little markets you will ever find. Before Victor is the town of Tetonia where you will find a great art/crafts shop on the west side of the street. From Victor you can go over Teton Pass (10% grade but very doable). The steep part of the grade going east is only 2 miles long with wide traffic lanes. On the other side is Jackson, WY, very busy but lots of fun. We stay in Victor and drive over the pass to Jackson on a daily basis. Just Jake brake or exhaust brake down the other side and you will be ok. There is a good turn out at the top of the pass where you can catch your breath. Great views as you drop down into Jackson.

We just drove from Cody through the south gate to Colter Bay RV Park and Campground last week.
That park is closed for the season on Monday the 27th, I think. But worth inquiring if the campground side is open.
A good place to stay with a 40' rig and 5 minute walk to Jackson Lake with great views of Mt Moran and companions.
