Thedford Toilet

Yahoo Message Number: 64039
I get an odor from the black water holding tank when traveling, yet the toilet bowl is holding water. As I recall, someone posted a message that some Thedford toilets had a vent hole in the bowl where odors could escape, and that Thedford has a fix for that by inserting a plug. Can anyone provide information on fixing the problem or tell me the message number posted about this problem?

Herb,

I had a similar odor when driving and was talked into buying some roof caps for the black & grey vents that create a venturi affect to reduce pressure so the fumes are drawn out. Seems to work very well. I stumbled across them at a rally booth for "Coil & Wrap" products which you can Google and I think Camping World may have them now also but they aren't as nice looking.

Had same Issue on my Allure, I replaced the thick Balck Rubber seal/washers [2] and the other thin at the bowel meets the Stand. At local RV Supply you can pick up the kit and get the one for the no vent bowel, once you split the Bowl from the stand the old seals/washers will have two holes for the overflow vent and your new one should not have these two half inch holes! I also plugged the china bowl holes with white silicone! What a Difference! Also Sealand has Rubber Plugs for this much cheaper then the way I did it but my bowel stopped holding water. Google sea land and give them a call. Ken 99 Allure 30356
