Intellitec coach lighting

Turned the living room lights on this evening and 2 of the 7 failed to come on. Tried changing the bulb and that isn't the problem. Can you reset the system? Thanks

Try disconnecting the house batteries (should be a switch upfront) for a while.
FYI -- could be a ground problem. We had a similar problem a year ago after being in a very heavy fog/mist enviornment for a few days. When it dried out a bit and I disconnected the batteries (about 15 min) all was back to normal. Since then at a regular service I had them re-tighten the ground connections everywhere (that we coudl find) and haven't had a problem since.
You could also check to see if there is a blown fuse...you'd need to remove the cover (on ours it is in the bedroom closet).

John, you don't show what year and model coach you have, which makes it much easier for someone to provide help, but in the 2004-2007 years there was a problem with the Intellitec module failing. I know, since I had a light show that would rival a 60's Disco club occur in my coach. It's kind of unsettling for lights to be coming on and off during the middle of the night. John Davis at J D's RV Service (541-693-3015) helped me get mine corrected. He really helped me out and is a heck of a nice guy.

Thank you for the help. I resolved the problem by resetting the intelitec. I own a 2007 Magna. Sorry I omitted it.

Just like R.D. Vanderslice, I woke up this morning to a 60's disco show in my 2006 Allure. Right now I am in western Washington and have had torrential rains. I checked the Intellitec panel in the bedroom closet and no moisture. I shut off the battery switch, did not wait very long, and still had active lights. I pulled the plugs off the modules in the bedroom closet, waited longer and plugged them back into the modules. The lights went back to normal. My questions is, what is happening and why?

Tim, it is the Intellitec Module going bad. In the day time it's no big deal, but at 3:00 am when your lights start going on and off it gets real interesting. Just start dancing. Mine started acting up three times, twice at night and once during the day. John Davis is the expert on this (JD's RV Service 541-693-3015) and he is one heck of a nice guy who will help you out. It's only going to get worse. The fix is to replace the module that is hidden behind your breaker box panel. John Davis may have the module or can get it for you. National RV Storage in Lewisville, Texas (469-277-1330) did the replacement for me. Eddie Brailey or Todd Springs at National are two other outstanding service providers. I hope you haven't forgot how to dance. Seriously, I know the bad feeling. Good luck.

Hi R.D.

Thanks for the heads up. I know Eddie and Todd very well. It was a great relief finding National. You are absolutley right. Good guys. We spend a couple of months in Corinth/Denton area with the grandkids every winter. We are in very very rainy Washington right now. I will give John at J.D.'s a call in the morning. I am pretty handy at fixing some things if I know what is broken. With this Intellitec, you don't know what is broken. My wife & I built a pretty decent lodge in bush Alaska. For the time being, I am re-booting the system. It will work for a few hours then go crazy again. Never stop dancing.

God bless,

Tim Comer

Tim,

We had this exact same problem. In our case one of the caulk joints (bedroom headboard slide) was leaking underneath the awning topper. Water blows in and puddles on the slide top, leaks in then runs down the interior of the wall. This soaked the Intellitec electronic control board underneath the water leak causing instability. All the push button stations are daisy chained on an RS-485 device loop. Each station has a unique address which is how the master controller (bedroom closet) knows what lights to turn on/off. You can unplug any control board which will not affect any of the other control boards on the system. The other problem area are the connectors used in the
3-wire cable run (red, blue and black
wires). Sometimes they can get oxidized creating bad connections. My guess is you have a soaked board. Find that board, dry it out, fix the leak, dry the wall space out with a hair dryer, reinstall everything and you'll be fine. Here's a link to a
