Hurricane Circulation pump noise

The pump that circulates the coolant to the heaters that is mounted near the hurricane is starting to sound rough, kind of buzzing. Can it be lubricated?

Rich,

I had a pump doing the same thing but decided that I would just replace it since I would have to replace the 4 gals. of antifreeze I lost while doing it and the labor involved if I had to do it again. I bought one from Master Pumps. It cost me $196.

Thanks Kevin. That is an absurd price for that little pump. Anyone know another source? Can they be easily rebuilt with a kit?

Not sure what you mean by buzzing. Yes they can be rebuilt. Depends on what it needs. New pump seals, easy. Rebuild motor not so easy. If the noise you hear is not the motor itself dying. Dead motor, not worth the rebuild. Wish I could pick up several bad ones, rebuild them and offer them as an exchange. My worst one on my coach required a sandblasting, repainting, new bearing and new seals. The motor rebuild was not easy. Hard to get apart and back together. Having rebuilt components for a living, this would be right up my ally. Anyone have bad pumps laying around. Send me a PM.

Kevin,

Might be a while since the pump has never made that noise before or since. But I will take a look at sources.

Does anyone know where to find the country coach center caps. I am now missing 2 center caps on the front.

I have tried the truck stop $5.00 center caps but keep loosing them, and they are of incredibly low quality and I dent them trying to install them. I would like a bit better quality.

Idea's?

Last year I purchased a set of hub caps for the front wheels while at Oregon Motorcoach in Eugene. They said they were from Bob Dickman's Les Schwab store in Junction City (http://www.dickmantires.com/default.html), but I cannot find they on the website. They are a different design and bolt on with an almost flat center piece which removes to check the bearing oil. They've worked out great and are recommended, but are somewhat pricey. You might call and see if they still sell them.

Dan, I don't know the answer to your quesiton, but for the cheap ones you have, press near the edges to avoid denting them when installing. Also, the dents can be pressed out with your thumb while holding a good grip on the edge with both hands.

I just bought a center cap from the Junction City Les Schwab last friday. It was the same as the orginal one on the other front rim. At the time this was the only one they had available. But they might know how to get more of them.
