Hi George,
I've never checked into this, but, I have read and heard good things about both PPL and Motorhomes of Texas.
I will say I had a positive experience purchasing a consigned RV from Holland Motor Homes in San Diego.
My perceptions is that you have some wiggle room when both agreeing to the minimum sell price, and the % of the action to the dealer. Do your normal research on coming up with value of the RV.
One other opinion (not informed, but off of assumptions on my part) is that the consignment dealers will want this priced to move. I think that is fair, as the coach does take up space on their lot, and their people need to show it.
I feel you can get your best price, by selling it by owner, to another private buyer. If you don't want to go thru this, then it's going to cost you. Another observation, is that it is a Buyer's market now. Dealers that do take trade in's, will need to move these units too. So, you never know which unit is going to make the most money for the dealer, and thus, which one they would push.
If you go the Consigned route, be sure you understand the risk and insurance coverage. You might need to take out extra coverage to make sure your safe.
A gent named Steve Wilson, at San Diego Holland Motorhomes, is honest and a straight shooter. A call to him for input might help, he is a professional, and a person that can be trusted. Country Coach is something he and Holland Motor Homes is up on...
Best of luck, and I for one, would like to learn from what you learn, please share with us...
