Latest Norcold new recall

FYI,

Norcold has just issued a NEW recall to cover ALL their frigs to install a NEW lower temp switch kit. The recall includes ALL the previous recalled 1200 series to install the older switch kit, all 600 series, and 800 series 2 door model boxes. The recall also covers all the 2009 and earlier 2010 manufactured boxes. The line is forming.

Now begins the problems. A friend of mine went to a Cummins Coach Care facility to inquire about the latest recall. Cummins told him that they are no longer performing Norcold recalls because Norcold stiffed them on the labor. The only way they will perform a recall is if one prepays the labor. He then went to his dealer where he purchased his coach. Same thing. Another friend in Southern California is reporting the same problem. Looks like the line is going to be long at a repair center who will agree to perform the work. Also, how does one determine if the newer thermo switch is installed or did the facility just got a older one out of their stock? Did you see the disclaimer on the below web site link? Interesting.

I'm kind of red face. Checked the serial # and forgot to look at the door which says Dometic. Guess I have two reasons to smile and be happy today. My name was not in the paper either.

So the recall is a lawyer thing then. This notice to tell you to stop using until it is fixed, resolves them of legal problems but does nothing for the end user unless they pay for the repair themselves. Nice.
