Water pump

Hello All,

Certainly not a critical request but looking for some information. Our Allure does not have very good water pressure when on the water pump. Has anyone changed their water pump recently and which brand, type and size did you change to.

Replaced ours last year, Flojet Sensor VSD 4.5, works well.

We have a Shurflo 4900; I have just purchased the replacement model as a spare. My system is actually better on the pump than when on city water! However I have to play with the switch over valve from city to fill which allows the pump to clear any airlocks, you can actually hear the pump clearing its bubbles. I find that after a journey the pump does seem to have some air. Not sufficient to cause constant running but enough to increase noise and reduce effective flow.
Also there are a lot of non return valves through the system which deny best flow and pressure.

Did you ever have good water pressure from the pump? If not, you may be able to boost the pressure by turning the adjustment screw under the cap on the front of the pump. I replaced mine because the pump diaphragm was leaking with a new Flojet and the pressure was miserable. I removed the pump and took off the cap to find a screw that adjust the pressure output of the pump. I turned the screw a bit and got higher pressure. Since I had the pump out of the coach, I connected a pressure gage to the output side and adjusted the pump so it shut down at about 40 or 45 psi.
If you can get to your pump and remove the cap, try adjusting the screw slightly and check the flow in the coach until you are satisfied. You could put a pressure gage on a faucet and check the pressure at shut off just to be sure you aren't over pressuring the system. pete

Pete,

Thanks very much for the input. i will try to access the cap to the pump. I will also evaluate my water pressure on City Water, the further that i investigate this problem it may be I have a problem with my regulator not allowing enough water through the system.
