Helps needed with hydraulics

ygrps-yiv-226840196 v0003a* {} I have a 95 Intrigue on the Gillig chassisand lost the filter number.
I have one large canister filter. The Gillig # is 53-22412-002, has anyone have Wix or something part number to reference to.

Thanks

Brian if you open that large canister the filter is only about the size of a automobile oil filter. Remove the filter or at least take the numbers to a NAPA store and they should be able to cross reference it for you. When I had my pump replaced this summer that is what the shop did. Unfortunately I can't find the receipt to see how much it was or what number/manufacture NAPA replaced it with.
Documentation on the canister says if should be replaced every 6000 miles - seems pretty frequent to me, but considering the cost of a pump I will do it as recommended.

The filter number is shown on the canister on mine. Have you looked around on the top of the canister for a filter number?

The filter in my Hydraulic Tank is a Nelson filter. Nelson is owned by Cummins so I can get them at Cummins West.
I believe the Nelson number is 84220A. I have purchased them from Filter Barn for $12.81 online.
I think Cummins is competitive, but I have to drive 30 miles to get them. In my jeep, that adds another $12.00 in fuel. :(
Filter Barn will ship me $100 worth of filters for free, and their prices on Fleetguard products are significantly less than Napa or Wix. So I order a bunch ahead of need.

Thanks for posting the info about Filter Barn, I just purchased three filters, two fuel filters and a coolant filter, from a nearby Cummins distributor for a total price of $71.38. The same filters from Filter Barn are priced at $32.54! Something is rotten at Cummins. Sounds like my next self service filters will come from Filter Barn.

Thanks again for the info.

Brian, my last hydraulic filter was from Cummins in Albuquerque, Rocky Mt. Cummins, when had to have a new H-pump replaced. Filter # was HF 6238. Hope this helps. Jim Veen , CC Inrtigue, 36 ft , '96 # 10299.

Oooops....I just checked on my previous statement and Filter Barn did not produce the Nelson filter.
But...Ryder did have it for $8.00. How's that for a quick 30% discount?

Brian,

It appears that your hydraulic filter is same as mine. Not sure if you have one or more in that cannister but doing a search on the cannister brings up the following:

FILTER-POWER STEERING
ALL BUSSES

OEM NELSON 83284D/7-9999-

301/GILLIG 53-22412-002
FRAM C7058
Baldwin PT8487
Nelson 84220A
Donaldson P50698
WIX 57196

You should be able to find one of these at a local supply house.

Has any one had dealings with the Paint Department in Chino, now that Dave has moved on? What were the results? Thanks.

Where did Dave go? I always liked dealing with him and he always made it right. I have always been happy with them in the past. Do you know who took his place?

The new guy said Dave moved on, the secretary said Dave retired after 12 years. I was hoping someone

out there might know.

I went to the Paint Dept in the middle of Oct to order some moulding and discuss painting my coach with Dave. I have emailed him twice to find out about my moulding and have received no reply. If Dave has gone that place is in trouble.

Hi Steve,

You failed to answer Tom's question. "In what ways is RV Paint Pros superior to the Paint Department now that Dave has moved on?"

Looking forward to your answer.

Brian,

Sorry for the non response to Tom's question - and sorry Tom. RV Paint Pros does not have the "assembly line" mentality I experienced at Paint Department. I like a more personal interaction. The attention to detail and desire to please you is something I also did not experience at the Paint Department. RV Paint Pros "boss" is Frank. He will give you what you want, quickly, and at a reasonable price. He knows how to paint! He also fixes "cracking" of the fiberglass many have experienced and that I have just developed in my Inspire. RV Paint Pros is located where I store my coach so I have seen their work on Prevost's through 15 year old gassers that have been abused by being stored outside uncovered. I can not say enough great things about Frank and his crew. Go to their web site. By they way they also do total renovations, and did some for me - factory quality.

Brian,I also have used RV Paint Pros located at Dan Murphy's Exclusive RV Storage in Pomona more than once and my experience was top of the line. Frank matched my colors perfectly, repaired two damaged storage compartment doors and added some pin striping that CC did not finish correctly (two sets of striping just stopped in the middle of the rear of my coach) then color sanded my whole coach "you need sunglasses to look at it". Frank and his crew are like "family" as Steve mentioned it does not feel at all like your local RV dealer /body shop. Frank is about to do design and build a kitchen counter slide out island for me, and for me trust is what I must have for anyone to work on my coach. They have a sense of integrity that is difficult to find these days. I cannot praise them enough...they are best. This is my experience. Someone suggested that RV Paint Pros were able to correct the micro-cracking paint problem which many owners have on their coaches.
Has anyone tried this procedure, whatever it is? I will contact them directly about this but would be interested in any direct owners experience.

That was I. I spoke to Frank the other day (I store there also) and he went over my coach and identified problem areas. Contact Frank directly, he will explain it better than I.

I have had two complete paint jobs, road rash , and upkeep work done at the Paint Department over the last 15 years. Work has always been excellent, with both labor and management getting good marks.
I was in the area the other day and stopped by. I had lunch with Vic and discussed touching up a small road rash spot. The place was great looking and busy as usual. Vic told me about a new partner coming aboard. This will be even better than before. They will expand the services that they offer. So it should be even better in the future.
Personally, I think the place will run even more smoothly with a new shop manager. The morale of the employees seems to be a lot better with this too. I am sure the web site will reflect their new services soon.
Ask me off forum for any recommendations or questions.
