1999 Magna rear suspension parts

Ok people, I need some help. I have a worn transverse torque rod bushing. Josam's says I need new parts. They are Dayton parts but one of them is obsolete. Any idea where I might check. I'm grasping for any information.

I would be in contact with the hot rod shops in your area. I don't suspect a bushing to be a big deal and can be rebuilt as long as the housing is in good shape. If you can get a copy of Hemmings Motor News. This is a go to catalog for the re builder. It's a place to start. Have you goggle for suspension bushings. Another idea is search for the suspension part containing the bushing you need then have it pressed out and reinstalled into your piece.

You might also check with a heavy duty truck frame and alignment shop.

You will probably have to get the specs of the current Transverse Torque Rod, i.e., measurements of length and end dimensions where bushings are installed. You should be able to find a cross referenced part from a different manufacturer if Dayton is not making a bushing with same dimensions. You may also need to just get the entire rod with bushings, thus the need for the dimensions of current part. You might also check ebay motors for bushings, several truck supply companies sell these sorts of parts on ebay motors. If you get a diligent parts detective from one of the trucking supply companies you will find the part. You might also call Bob Lee's new outfit, Oregon Motorcoach in Eugene and ask for help. Someone there would surely have access to parts information for cross reference purposes.

2000 Intrigue 11040

TRANSVERSE RODS

The length of the transverse rod is determined by the vehicle manufacturer in order to center the axles under the frame. The transverse rod maintains lateral axle position during cornering.
See Figure 5-4. The mounting bracket at the axle end of the torque rod is furnished and welded into position on the axle housing by the axle or vehicle manufacturer.

Torque rod end attaching fasteners are furnished by the vehicle manufacturer. It is important that the tightening torque of the nuts be checked during preventive maintenance service.
Follow the vehicle manufacturer's specifications for tightening torque values.
All torque rods can be inspected for looseness, or torn or shredded rubber. With brakes applied, slowly rock an empty vehicle with power while a mechanic visually checks the action at both ends. Or with the vehicle shut down, a lever check can be made with a long pry bar placed under each rod end and pressure applied.
Rod ends can be renewed by pressing out the worn end, and installing a replacement bushing.
A two-piece rod is also available to cut and weld to the desired length, see Hendrickson publication no. 59310-001.

NOTE Hendrickson recommends the use of Grade 8 bolts and Grade C locknuts be used for all rod attachments.
