Panasonic VA-707

For those of you who have the PanasonicVA-707 stero system and back up camera head, I found out a neat trick recently. If one holds down the "enter" button on the remote control until you hear the second beep, it automatically finds the six strongest stations and sets them in the queue. Had not seen that little trick in any of the stuff I had read on the system.
Has anyone hooked up the sattaliet radio to this system yet? Would sure like to hear from them. Technicians I talk to say the best way to do it would be not to use the plug but hard wire and solder the connections into the control box. Any comments?

We hooked the satillite radio into the Bose system using the 120v sat radio system with a little dash antena. It work great but there are times when we need to move the antena around to a different spot. That normally happens when we change from going north to south or east to west.

Thanks for the tip. I have been told by other owners that CC stated that the unit is incapable of projecting a rear view image when the radio or CD is on. NOT SO. If you scroll to the video 1 input and press the center bottom button on the remote "BGV" the back ground video will stay up when you go to the other modes. It can be belpful to see a RR blind spot or to see if the idiot behind you is really following that close!!!!

I installed a Delphi XM Radio. While Delphi car antenna work okay on dash, it works better on roof. Here is what I did:
My CB Radio Mic clip was below the compass. Moved it under the dash to right of gas pedal. Mounted the Delphi swivel mount in its place. Easy reach by driver or can be turned to be viewed by passenger who uses the remote control.

Got 12V DC from tap into wires behind dash for cigarette lighter.
Don't recall if the Delphi had fused lead or I added a small fuse.

Buy (Radio Shack) a 6 foot audio cable with 90 degree 1/8" stereo plug at one end and 2 phono jacks at the other. Ran Left/Right audio to VA-707 control box behind dash panel near to entry steps.
There are two spare jacks for VCR on the top side of that box. To listen to XM Radio, just tap the top center blue button on VA-707 monitor to VCR position. That is the beauty of my setup. No tuning to a FM Radio station because it is a direct audio hookup running on 12V DC. And you can still view the rear camera while listening to satellite XM radio.

Hard part is getting antenna wires from roof to below dash. Pull out TV, which exposes a large cutout in the roof foam (where CB antena is). Drilled small hole in roof to cutout. (You might drill through metal of CB radio ground plane -- that is okay). Had to carfully remove the plastic snaps from the two antenna leads so they would fit the small hole and be easy to route down the driver side column. Delphi antenna comes with enought coax (fixed length, don't cut) to easily make it from front-center roof to dash.

Hardest part was routing the antenna wire behind the audio panel to the TV opening without removing VCR etc. Removed the four screws holding the plastic cover to the left window column.
Enlarged the cable hole a little at the top using a sharp exacto knife. Fished a coat hanger wire through it and behind the audio panel to the TV area. Attached the Delphi antenna coax and pulled it back to the hole. (Took me a 1/2 hour).

Dress the wire down the column, through the lower hole to the underside of the dash. Then just route over to the radio. Re-add the plastic snaps to the antenna leads.

Neatly dress the three wires (12V, Audio, Antenna) to the Delphi radio base. Replace the column cover.

Throw away the audio cassette adapter from the car kit.
Finally, buy another car kit for your toad. Install the second base in the auto. Move Delphi between RV and Toad as needed.
