99 Allure Power Tech. Generator Fuel line Replacment

Ken here, Have any of you Fellow 99 Allure owners replaced your rubber supply and return rubber fuel lines going to your 7kw Power Tech from the main tank? Ours are cracking on the outside as I believe in P.M. Replacment Any other Issues and suggestions would help Generator runs great I replaced the fan drive belt a while back with oil and fluid's filters also, Has only 400 plus hours. Ken 99 Allure 30356

I replaced the fuel hoses about 3 years ago, as they were leaking.
Otherwise, I've replaced the water pump and belt, and fuel pump at around 7600 hrs or so. It's over 10,000 hrs now and the valves are needing adjustment. When I do that, I'll replace the generator end bearing and slip-ring brushes. Also, the coolant hoses.

I have a 96 Intrigue and probably need to do the same thing. Let me know how it goes. I briefly looked at the top main tank connection and can't figure how I can get to it. don't want to drop the tank. Is yours easier?

The guy who did mine got to it over the top of LP tank. Nothing was dropped!

I have replaced the generator fuel lines on my coach and access to the lines located on top of the fuel tank is through the first bay on the passenger side of the coach. Once the bay door is open you should see some screws that attach the rear bay wall to the frame. Remove the screws and then the wall itself from the bay. Once that is done you can see the generator fuel lines on top of the tank. The lines at the generator are easier to access. Not a difficult job, but will take several hours to complete. I have a 2004 Inspire, but I think access on your Allure to the generator fuel lines should be approximately the same as mine. Take a look and let me know if I am correct.

Dave thanks for the tip, 10K hrs is a lot but not for a diesel. Were you able to change out the water pump with the generator in place? The Bearing on the generator end is a good tip. Working for Cat I always replaced the rear bearing anytime the generator had to be removed from the engine. Also you asap adj. your overhead valves as I had new units with 2500 hrs on it with push rod and rocker failures on our rental units due to early wear. Slip ring clean up and new brushes good idea also. Also on the rotor and stator check for green spots on the copper wires.

Will post the Fuel line replacment when done. Ours has a large propane tank but working on Diesels in Boats there is more room then I was use too in the old days. I will use a box cutter knife at the ends and mark the Supply and return fittings. Ken 99 Allure 30356

Yeah, 10K probably is a lot for an RV generator. We used it to supply power to our new barn for a while, before we got a more permanent source, and that really racked up the hours.
So far I have not pulled the genset from the coach. The most difficult thing about the water pump is getting the fan belt off and on again, as there is no adjustable tensioner. You have to stretch the belt over the crankshaft and water pump pulleys before you tighten up the water pump pulley mounting bolts and the available space is limited for a wrench. A gear wrench is a must here.
Agreed, the valve adjustment, bearing and brush replacement, etc. will be done before the next trip out.

When I replaced my fuel lines, I was able to squeeze myself between the top of the genset and the top of the compartment to reach the fittings on the fuel tank. I have the 7kW Powertech genset which is considerably shorter than the 8kW model, thus allowing me to squeeze in.
