New Hydro Hot

The neighbor next to me "lost" his Hydro Hot sometime back. The reason was the exhaust pipe was un-supported (Diplomat) and finally broke at the header connection, causing the boiler chamber to fail.
It was replaced with the new Aqua Hot 6500-D. Interesting in that this unit has no water storage, but offers "instant heat" on demand. He said they have hot water at any faucet within seconds, as the Aqua Hot has a boost pump that apparently increases flow (?).
In addition, it has two electric elements in lieu of the one most of us have in our units.
But, the really big change is there is NO diesel smell at the exhaust pipe. Hard to believe, I know. My neighbor says Aqua Hot uses an "after burner" on this unit. His exhaust pipe was also wrapped with insulation material the full length. I put my nose right at the pipe end and there was NO smell. Incredible.
But, (there's always a "but") was the cost. About $8,500 plus installation.
My neighbor had a Good Sam Extended Service Policy and he claims they paid for all, except the difference for his choosing the "higher" model, which I believe added about $1,500 or so above what they would pay.
But, as a side note, we all best check on the support offered to the exhaust pipes on our units and see if one can be installed if there is header support only.
