I coated the exterior of our tires 6 years ago, they still look good with no cracking etc. John 2002 Allure

Hi Joe,

Yes I use Sun Block for Tires and have on two coaches. I have had good success with it. As you probably know it is painted on the tires and is a water based latex. It contains the UV blockers that is supposed to last for up to 5 years. On my 2004 Allure I repainted the tires not this summer but last summer (5 years) and the old 7 year old Toyos look great. My mechanic says that my tires are in good shape and there are no cracks or checking.
When I used it the first time I applied two coats and it pealed off. I called the company and they said that they had failed to include on the can to only apply one coat unless there were several months before the second coat which was really not necessary. They sent me a free can that I still have unopened. I don't know if that rule still applies as I now have enough for a number of applications and at 70 I may never see the bottom of the unopened can. It leaves a nice semi-gloss finish that looks like new tires but not the sprayed on stuff.
There are two down sides. First you have to be good at striking a line with a brush or else you will have to mask off the rims. That is not easy to do on a large circle. Second if you are prone to scraping curbs then you will be touching it up a lot.
However I love the freedom of not worrying about covers and knowing that the tire are protected even while on the road.

Hi:

I have a question. My wife had surgery and I have not been able to use my coach for 6 months. I start it, use the floor furnace, etc. Everything seems to be fine.
I need to clean and sanitize the fresh water tank and line. Can anyone give me some help and what to use.
