surge protector

My surge protector is "humming" pretty loudly. Does this indicate it should be replaced or can it be repaired/maintained to eliminate the noise.

Ok. In our 99 Affinity, my husband is trying to find the surge protector. He knows there is one installed, and schematic shows it attached or adjacent to the back fuse (distribution) panel , in the back bedroom, but cannot find it or get to it?? He is wondering if it has been removed.
Is there another place this could be located in the coach? All the cabinetry around the distribution panel is sealed, no access. Solid wood. Thanks Kay & Allan 5654

On my 99 Intrigue the ckt breaker panel is behind the driver side storage door in the bedroom. The surge protector is behind the outside wall inside in the rear wall overhead storage on the driver's side. Just take out the screws to gain access, it is a tight fit you will need to pry it out!

On My 2000 Magna the surge protector is mounted in the drivers side of the front bay that is behind a access panel. The bay is accessed by turning the white plastic clips on the front wall of the front pass thru bay.

I am the second owner of my 98 allure so I do not know if my access panel is factory installed or a DIY modification by the original owner. There is a small cabinet in the bedroom above the bed on the drivers side for the distribution panel. There is a large cavity behind the power distribution panel. The cabinet door exposes only the distribution panel.
However, my coach has a cut-out in the side panel of that cabinet with a removable clear Plexiglas cover held in place with "screen clips". The cover is about 10" x 12" and allows visual inspection and access to the "Surge Guard" surge protector through the large the adjacent cabinet. By standing on the bed I can visually inspect the surge protector LED's and gain access to the bypass key switch.
I am not sure if the Affinity is the same. Also, your coach is a year newer. This panel should be standard equipment to allow access for inspection and service without the necessity of removing the distribution panel.
