Intermittent Slide-Out Operation

The front PS slide in my 2006 Allure Hood River (kitchen) has developed a gremlin. My pushing of the switch has now become only a request to be granted or ignored.

1. There is power to the key on the control pad. The DS front slide on the same power line (per wiring diagram) works fine. With the key on, pushing the extend or retract switch causes a clicking noise (relay?) that sounds like it is coming from the interior approximately mid-coach.

2. At the slide motor (Power Gear electric) in the bay, there is a small green circuit board. All three fuses on or near the board are good.

3. The shear pin is intact.

4. The 6-pin cable connector at the bay-mounted circuit board has power (red and black wires) and receives the power signal from the inside switch.

5. When the slide does decide to work, there is no binding, noise, or other issues, so this seems to be electrical.

6. The coach is level with the HWH system indicating as such.

7. If I release the motor brake, and can manually extend and retract the slide with no binding, etc.

Any ideas where to go from here?

Al, I suggest that you have either a failing relay or a faulty power connection on the relay or a bad ground at the motor. If you hear the relay even when the slide does not work I would vote for the intermittent failure of the power source or the ground. It is not a fuse or a circuit breaker because it works sometimes.
To check for a ground problem at the motor probe the ground on the moter to known good ground looking for continuity.
To check the power I suggest that you find the relays that are the source of the clicking you hear and probe the big wires for 12VDC. If you have power on one side of the relay probe the other side while a helper actuates the slide switch. If power is there go down the line to the motor and probe for power when the switch is actuated.

I had some issues with my slide. I have 40' Intrigue Grandview model. What I found to be the problem was the parking brake switch. CC in their infinate wisdom decided that for a safety feature to prevent the slide for operating when the parking brake was off they put in an air pressure switch that opens the ground side of the circuit to the relay mounted on the hydraulic pump.

I had the same problem. However, it was constant not intermittent. As George suggested my problem was caused by a failed relay switch. Since your problem is intermittent, I am guessing that you may have a poor ground to your relay switch.
On my coach it is located along with two other switches in the outside compt beneath the driver seat. All three are ganged together against a chassis frame member and they all look alike. Mine look similar to small hockey pucks I believe that two of them are for your brake litesgh and one controls the slide. A CC tech told me to run a temporary wire to anything that grounds to the chassis and which post to connect it to. You will need someone else to guide you from this point as the incident occurred several years ago and I can not recall the correct relay nor the correct post to run your wire from.
BTW, one of the brake lighte relays in the same gang also failed later. That failure caused the engine to be governed to only allow a maximum ground speed of 20 MPH. I was told that this is another safety feature. If that relay fails the electronic brains see "brake failure" and will only allow you to limp to a safe place.
