How to get local stations when traveling in the RV

I've got my direct Tv and my Motosat dish installed and have left home and found out i don't have local stations such as Abc, Cbs, Fox, Nbs, from my Sat. With the Wineguard crank up ant. I can get some stations and I'm wondering about the abapter I see on some air antennas - is it worth while? I have heard about getting a form to fill out for Sat. local channels but don't know where to get this info. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks 2004 Allure 31006

You have to add the service to Direct that gives you the east and west coast big 4 stations. I think we pay an additional 9.00 for that service, but I don't remember. If you can live with the air antenna it would save you a little money, but we have the national networks at all times while traveling. When we're within about 75 miles from home, we can then get our local channels since we're within the spot beam.

This site http://tinyurl.com/64qq945 talks about how to get Distant Network Programming from DirecTV. Cost is $15 per month for one coast and $20 per month for both coasts. The form can be downloaded here http://tinyurl.com/4fetsou . We tried the over the air antenna for a while but we like places that are too far from cities to get good TV reception.

The way I am going to get my Local Stations wherever I am at without having to pay extra is to use my AM21 OTA Tuner (with my OTA Antenna on top of RV) which connects to your Directv DVR such as an HR23-700 or HR24-500. etc. which will allow you to receive your local OTA (Over The Air) Channels and then it integrates them seemlessly into your Guide so that the only way you know that they are OTA Channels is the -1 or -2. etc. after the channel number such as in 2-1 or 5-1. etc.
It just plugs into the USB Port on the back of your Directv DVR and they sell for $50. Now you have Local Information coming from your Local Channels wherever you are and all you have to do is raise your OTA Antenna up on your roof and you are good to go. You do have to input your area code and then do a channel scan and then you have your lolocal channels.

Your post is a little confusing. When you say you don't get local channels do you mean local as in Los Angels, Phoenix, Seattle or where ever you are parked? If you subscribe to Distant Networks option then you will get the network channels from New York and Los Angles all the time. If you want local network channels, at the same time, then call DirecTV, tell them where you are, and they will turn them on at no additional cost.

I'm looking for a specific kind of drawer/cabinet door retractable , positive latching pull. I don't ever recall seeing them on a CC product but have seen them on Newells and Winnebago Navions, etc. It's a little round gizmo that's more or less flush and locks the door/drawer when pushed in and when pushed in a little the knob pops out and releases the latch allowing the drawer/door to be opened. Anybody recognize what I'm describing, know the correct name and best of all, know a source? I've looked through endless hardware supplier sites but haven't run across exactly what I'm looking for. At some time in the past I've seen them in a catalog but can't remember where.

This is common hardware in the marine industry--Sea Ray definitely used them. Try West Marine or some of the other on-line boating hardware suppliers.

Jim I would call Newell Motorhomes in Oklahoma directly. When I had a problem with labels on Intellitec switch plates ( when CC was shut down and before Chapter7 bankruptcy ) I was walking through a Newell display coach and talked to a guy named John Clark -VP Service at Newell and he gave me the name of the company they use to make those labels. This helped me out of a huge predicament, at the time , as we had reprogrammed all the switches, and I had pieces of paper taped to the wall by the switch. Even you might buy one and see if you can get a name from that. Just an idea!

Found 'em! They're called "Push Knob Latches" and one source appears to be Alema.com (Alema Hardware) which seems to have a pretty comprehensive selection of metal and plastic types. The trick is in getting the terminology just right!

Sounds like you haven't used your AM21 yet. Thing is, you have to be within range of OTA signals. Other thing is that you have to re-program the thing whenever you move. Another thing is you you have to re-program your regular shows on your DVR every time you move. Another thing is that you might have to turn the antenna when you change channels.
What works for me at the moment, is to call DirecTV when I move, and have them change my service address. Takes about 10 minutes. I still have to re-program the DVR.

Thanks for your response. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, Sugatsune appears to be an industrial product distributor and their web site does not actually have an opportunity to purchase the products displayed or, for that matter, provide a good link for an individual purchaser. They do have an excellent PDF installation page concerning this product. No problem, however, Alema.com (hardware) provides opportunity for individuals to buy.

Do you have an RV Account with Directv? Or are you using your DVRs from your house? Directv is starting to crack down on customers changing their "Service Address" more than once a year because of FCC Regulations. You may have gotten lucky in the past but they are not supposed to change the Service Address for this purpose.

No account for the Rv but the OTA works OK for what we need or won't so for. On the road now and steadily learning.
