Outlet 1127 hits on search... (One single Outlet Problem)

I scanned thru many of the 1127 hits, and the common thread on power outlets were GFI, or Left vs Right, or Groups of outlets.
Our 04 Allure has one driver side slide. The 1st owner had a J-Lounge installed, and covered one of the only two outlets on that side.
The one remaining, back by side of the slide, by the dining table. Is used quite a bit while using Laptops. It's stopped working. (I did just have a few mod's to the coach. RV-450 Autoformer installed, and new Amish Cooling Unit installed on the 1200, required moving the outlet a bit (like Don S. said it would). I also had the generator dropped, to replace a bad temperature sending unit.
I have power at all other outlets, and all lights work. I've turned off/on the circut breakers. I pulled the outlet out, and though I did not open up the back to look at the actual bare wire to the outlet, the in/out lines are tight (the out feeds the other outlet, covered by the J-lounge).
Gang, what has me confused, is that only one outlet is not working. (Well, maybe two, as I can't check the one that is covered.)
Any suggestions? Should I look at the inverter breakers (but again, one outlet only...). Should I figure out how to open the back of the outlet, and check the wires for solid attachments with the screws.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track. I would put a meter across the input wires to be sure you have power there, and if so, the outlet itself is at fault - cheap and easy, a favorite mantra of mine. ;*) If the power is not to the input wires, then you need to go further upstream, and that is a subject for a later post. I have reached my level of competence, and will be guessing from here on.

Dug a bit deeper (And, as I know enough about electricty to be cautios, and say the words "Shake it off!" when lighting myself up - please factor this by my questions...).

No power in the line coming into the outlet.

1) Is my best bet to pull the breaker board, and look for loose wires on the connections? (I did have work done to add in a RV-450 Autotformer behind this area, along side of the Progressive unit. Figure maybe something may have pulled loose?)
2) As this is in the slide, is a break/pinch of the wire something to consider? (No problems with the slide, but moving pieces are more prone to problems then non moving...)
3) Anything else to look at?

It is the only outlet not working.

Did I read in my 1127 hits on search, that sometimes another 'item' is inline along the way? If so, where would one look for this?

Any other suggestions?

Confused in San Diego, with a nasty turn of the weather - dropped into the high 60's today...

It would be interesting to take a volt meter and test for 120 VAC on the wires going into the back of the outlet. If you do, then the box is bad and a simple fix. If you don't, then your problem is upstream from there. Good luck

Thanks Larry - I do not have all of my tools with me, perhaps a trip to the hardware store for an inexpensive tester for hot wires, will do the trick for me on this. I also have a toner, of course not with me, so I can see if it is a full path board.
These outlets look pretty non mechanical. Do the burn out sometimes??

Another question (and, sorry for doing most of the posts on my thread with questions:)!). I don't have my schematics available, Murphy's Law.
Does anyone know if the outlet that feeds the refrigerator, is daisy chained into the driver side outlets? I don't recall seeing a seperate breaker for the fridge? They did have to move the fridge outlet, to get the new Amish cooling unit back in (same interference problem that Don S. had on his unit). I assumed this was a dedicated line. But, if it is part of the daisy chain to the driver side outlet, the next one in line, is the one that stopped working (and the only other one down the way, is blocked by the J-lounge.) The front outlets work, on the floor as you walk out of the coach, but suspect this is the TV breaker line?
Thanks again, I don't want to have to go pull the fridge out again, if these are not daisy chained...

05 Inspire and 04 Allure may be apples and oranges but... I had an open neutral leg that killed the duplex outlets on the passenger side of the coach. The offending connection was in the forward pass through overhead - relatively easy to access. The connections were made with wire nuts and one came loose. Pretty rare to find wire nuts on the coach, as most connections are crimped - - for obvious reasons.
Get a two dollar tester from Home Depot - about three inches long, yellow, with a male plug at one end and three led's at the other. It'll tell you what the problem is.
I have another wire nut story for later - - this could have been ugly but I got lucky.
Bottom line - if you have wire nuts, get rid of them or at least tape them.

I'm not an electrician, but I've never seen one burn out. However, if there is power at those wires and none at the box, it can tell you the problem is at or in the box somewhere. If not, then go upstream in the daisy chain and measure that same wire coming out of the back of the next outlet, and so on.

My frige outlet is a stand alone outlet with a 20 AMP circuit breaker in the main power distribution panel in the bedroom.

The fridge is not daisy chained in the GFI circuits. They are basically the inverter circuits and the fridge is standalone on it's own circuit in my coach and it is an Allure like yours.
I am a bit confused by your descriptions this far so would you write me off line and I will try to help.

When I replace my norcold with a residential refrig I noticed that the electrical outlet for the refrig only worked when plugged in to shore power (the grid) I opened up the elctrical panel (took off the cover) for the coach in the back above the washer/dryer and moved the refrig breaker over to the inverter side (half the breakers on on the grid and half are both inverter and grid). I had to pigtail extensions wires for the neutral and hot wire to move the refrig run over to the other side of the breaker panel (8 inches of wire with wire nuts). It is very important that you also move the neutral wire which is white or it will not work on when the inverter is inverting while not hooked up to the grid.
My norcold gas refrig would only work on gas when I was not plugged into the grid (shore power). Not he case now. The residential refrig draws from either and uses about 14 amps/hrs about 20 minutes and hour. I have since replaced my modified sine wave inverter with a bigger 2800 watt pure sine wave inverter.

The short answer to your question is that the refrigerator has its own dedicated breaker or at least it should. For at least my 2004 CC it was not wired to work with the inverter orignally. Electrical codes for residential homes require anything with a motor or compressor have their own breaker so I am assuming that also applies to 120 volt wired motorhomes. Fans, garbage disposals, dishwashers, compressors (refrigerators), trash compactors all fall into that separate breaker requirement.

your's sounds like my problem. my hurrican only works in the summer so last weekend i was useing small electric heaters. they did ok until the wife turned on the micro, it stopped as did all outlets. the gfci was tripped & wouldn't reset .i installed a new one white on white, black on black, load on load charge on the hot line comming in. turned it on & popped the 50amp braker on the post. the 2 20s in basement aren't popped but no power toany outlets, tv etc. today i took my jumper (double male plugs)put power in to a receptical & found i had power at all of them, but none comming up from the brakers in the basement. what am i missing? the panel up front shows 118.6 on both legs we're home now, at the camp ground it was 118 &124 so they had a problem too.thanks for any ideas...bob '02magna 6028

All I can tell you is that when you are running two electric heaters AND the microwave, you can overload the Freedom inverter.
If your coach is wired as mine, all the outlets and the micro are running through two 20 amp breakers, and all of these run through the internal transfer switch inside the inverter. This transfer switch is only 30 amps, so with heaters and micro you can overload the A/C circuits in the inverter. I recently did this and found that one of the wire nuts on the A/C input to the inverter had actually melted right after I ran the two heaters and the micro. I was probably pulling close to 35 to 40 amps with everything going.
If you know what you are doing, you should check those wire nuts inside the inverter bottom front panel A/C area. Its a bitch to get in there.
I spoke with Xantrex and they said the unit is not designed to run with resistance heaters for long periods of time: it can ultimately damage the contacts in the inverter transfer switch.
Now at least I run a separate heavy duty extension cord through a window for the second heater and no problems.
I would like to have an outlet towards the front of the coach that is not running through the inverter, but I cannot figure out how to do this without running wire from the main breaker box.

Thanks for sharing, On our Allure removed the Washer/Dryer and used the 20 amp recp. and moved it outside above the sink. Installed a heacy duty GFI outlet. I use only a heater on a hookup and wife Bea uses the hair dryer on it and she knows to unplug the heater. I have heard other threads on this. Ken 99 Allure 30356

I've not called victory yet. But, had time today in Coarsegold EKP Park, to trace wires from the good to the bad outlet. After taking apart the small cabinet sides and false bottom of teh small slide cabinet by the dining table. I found a connector that said Molex on it. Did a search on "Molex" and found a good string of info. In this string, Jim did a Tarzan yell, after fixing his problem. I've a trip planned to True Value on Wed, to pick up the parts I don't have with me.

Hopeful of an upcoming Tarzan yesll from Smitty, by Thursday!!!
