No dc house power

Just bought a new to me 2006 Allure in december and have been following the threads on this forum. Great site with a tremendus amount of imformation. To make a long story short, I was working on replacing my step light today when I found that the wires were broke off the back of the light. I slid the genset out to access the wires and when I unhooked the plug I shorted the wires, why you ask? Because I had the door open! Shame on me. Now the problem, I have no dc power to the house, nothing, seats, lights, can't operate the slides, awnings ect. I have checked all the fuses and can't find anything blown. Hwh leveling does not work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris, perhaps you bumped the DC cut off off switch, usually located to the left of the door as you enter.

Lee thanks for the reply. I did check the switch, no power, even the thermostat, energy management and sea level have no power. I'm lost.

Chris, there are several large amp circuit breakers back in either your battery bay or your service bay. I suggest that you push each of them. I don't think you can get a visual indication of the breaker status so push each of them.. One should be a 200 amp house circuit.

Based on how our 97 Magna is wired, suggest you keep looking for a blown fuse. On mine there is a solenoid that feeds the 12 volt to all the things you have out. Mine is located in the main electrical bay where the inverter and all other control panels are located. In that bay is a bunch of fuses and one is to the 12 volt solenoid. Perhaps others can tell you were that bay is on your coach, mine is in the front bay and one has to remove a panel to get access.

I'm going to take a shot at this. Consider it a shot in the dark. There are only a couple of things that might effect ALL DC throughout the coach. Recheck the salesman's switch that Lee suggested, Jumper across it; check your battery terminals and clean them, check the veracity of the batteries themselves, and finally check the main ground from the batteries to a common ground for the rest of the coach. Got to be one of them.

Some of those red 200 amp breakers are real hard to reset, you almost have to push on them with the handle of a screw driver or something stronger than your finger. Like Lyle said, check it with a meter to be sure it's passing juice.

I had the same problem after shorting something. The master switch would not work anymore to turn on the the main solinoid back in the battery bay. I could run a wire or screw driver across the terminals of the solinoid and it would work just fine but obviously the positive wire coming from the master switch by the front door was not getting dc current. Long story short, on a 2004 coach there is a fuse located back in the battery bay hidden behind some of the heavy wires coming frfrom the batteries. There was one in particular that was the most difficult to get to without removing the starter battery that was blown. A purple or orange wire if I recall. replaced it and everything was fine.
It sounds to me that you have a fuse blown that powers the mains switch that energizes the main 200 amp solinoid. Find the blade fuse (not in the fuse box) and you find the problem. Kevin has a brother in-law. Butch, lives in Florida now, that used to work in the troubleshooting department at the old country couch and I consulted with him and he knew exactly where the fuse was and even the wire number by memory. Took just a minute to find it but I had to remove the starter battery to get to a wall in the batter bay that it was located on in its own inline fuse holder. Perhaps they made improvements to this access in 2006 but I doubt it. Never would have found it with out Butch's help

happened to me with my 2006 Inspire somewhere in the Canadian woods. I checked the solenoid located close to the house batteries. It's activated by the house power switch. Connected the incoming cable with the outgoing and drove for the next 3000 miles. Later replaced it by an old fashioned manuell truck switch. Will hold forever.

From the description of what doesn't work it sounds like there's been a loss of power to both chassis and domestic (house) DC circuits. Also not mentioned is exactly which plug was shorted out - one related to the gen-set or just one associated with the step light that was being repaired. There are relatively few places where one short would knock out both circuits. A good place to start would be review of the wiring diagrams since to do this a fuse or circuit breaker relatively close to both battery banks would have to be effected.

I have had the 300 Amp Class T Fuse mounted in the battery compartment fail on my 1995 rig.
My buddy had the same problem on his 2007 Magna. Perhaps yours has failed also.

My rig has two, the second one is in the inverter compartment.
I have purchased replacements at a local solar store. The below link has them for $30.00.

I am perplexed at the loss of power in both chassis and coach side. I would still check the isolator circuit. Is there a continuous duty solonoid connected to the coach power switch at the entry door? If so, check it.

I Agree, I dont want to tell you how many service calls I did after telling the Cust to press the reset breaker. Cat Gensets have them, also, 200 amp is a beast! Keep us posted Ken 99 Allure 30356
