Yahoo News Group

Yahoo Message Number: 69491
Hi,

Just wanted to weigh in on this one. I think too much division within a group of common owners makes locating information less convenient. But anyone can start a news group for any of a variety of reasons. I read this one regularly and scanning the subject lines from incoming mail is pretty easy. Sending and receiving to/from a single source is easier for me. A single transmission reaches all. One does see a lot of content that might not be relevant but all of it is educational and informative. Skip what doesn't interest you. It's easy to zero in on items of interest, read, digest, ponder and respond. The true value of these things isn't the technology/format but the group itself. If you have courteous and knowledgeable folks willing to share information, the value is high. In the world of busses, repairs, complexity, design issues, travels, safety, service providers and superficial labor - having this resource organized as an owner's group is a BIG help. Knitting this community together also keeps businesses more honest. Gone are the days of a single customer walking in the repair shop (or dealer) without a strong voice. Savvy service providers know within minutes hundreds if not thousands of people will know what happened with this single customer. The internet has given new meaning to the age old expression, "One bad customer goes a long way." I call it clout! A situation that is good for everyone.

My vote is to keep us all under one roof so to speak.

As for technology, the news group format is somewhat old. Blog software is where it's heading. Maintenance and hosting of a blog is more expensive and time consuming and that's the price you pay for bells and whistles. In the end what's important is information exchange, security and convenience. If a text based email system meets all the requirements then leave it alone. I've enjoyed the content here and certainly learned a lot in a short time. I try to put back information as well. Many thanks to those motivating its creation and continence.

Best - Scott
