Blown Battery/ storage

I just went to go check on my coach in storage. It started right up. I let the air pressure build up a little and backed it out of the building. As I was backing the coach out I noticed something laying on the floor under where it had been parked. It was some battery vent caps. I went and checked on the house batts since the chassis batts had just started the coach just fine and found one of my four batteries with the top blown completely off of it, leaving the dry battery plates exposed. The battery case was split to the bottom of it in several places. Some of the other batteries had their vent caps blown off of them as well. I had my xantrex remote set at the lowest possible setting (limiting the amout of charge the batteries would get).
The only thing I can figure is maybe it froze and blew during one of those -31 deg. winter nights that we endured this year.
So Jose, I guess I would disconnect my batteries and put an external battery tender on them because I'm not really sure yet why it blew.

Sorry to hear about your batteries. I hope you are able to get a good deal on new batteries. Thanks for your suggestion, however, my situation is different, and I will not be able to disconnect my batteries since they will only have access to the charge that I can get from my solar panels.
