Roof A/C short cycles

Yahoo Message Number: 69872
My Coach is in storage at my shop so I went inside to check a few items and while there I turned on the #1 A/C. The unit ran for 10 minutes or so and then before reaching the desired temp it shutoff, 15 seconds later it started again of course this time the compressor didn't come on. I jumped the freeze sensor and tried again, no luck. In the past I have had this issue on and off with the various units. I've tried replacing the freeze sensor and I have also replaced the temp sensor. I was told to solder the connections when I replaced the temp sensor. Some of these fixes worked sometime and not other. I don't understand the real cause. Any thoughts? John Bennett

Mine was the furnace and turned out to be the ultimate simple fix...one of the vents was blowing straight at the wall under the t-stat and the warm air satisfied the t-stat long before the ambient temp in the coach came up. I just redirected the air. Maybe you'll be lucky.

My system has short cycled all functions of heating and A/C since new. Each time the unit will operate OK after from 4 to 8 restarts. Both CC & RVP have replaced several componets, no help. Several repair shops have tryed, no help.

Bob -

We had the same problem. Solved it after I cleaned and reset all the connections. Open the air filter hatch and one by one unplug and reattach each of the low voltage wires.

Good luck,
Jim

Good advice Jim...

Would also suggest un-pluging/re-plugging the "telephone" connector at both the A/C units and the "Comfort Control Center", "excercise" the dip switches in the A/C unit, and then do a "hard reset" at the Comfort Control Center...
Low AC voltage can also cause "short cycling"... Check the AC voltage at the shore power plug and then at the A/C units... If you are losing more than a volt or two, "burnish" the relay contacts in the surge protector and the transfer switch... check the connections from the 120VAC to the A/C units... Mine were connected with wire nuts and were a very poor connection...
Caution: unplug from shore power and turn off your inverter before working on these circuits...

John,

Just curious, was the middle a/c unit running at the same time? Jim Myers

No, I only was running the front unit. I went back and dropped the filter and reached up and removed and reconnected the low voltag wires. seems to work.
