Acadia alert

For those of you discussing the GM Acadia. My Chevy Traverse is the lower cost version of the same. I have recently experienced a dead battery (twice)after a day of towing. After three days working with a GM tech we have found that: 1.GM has changed the towing setup procedures to include a second fuse to be pulled and a very precise order of fuse pulling/key turning/tranny shifting and 2. there appears to be a module conflict between the On-star module and another unidentified, as of yet, module that causes a continued drain on the battery. Analysis will be continued when we return home (currently in Tempe, AZ). In the mean time here is a clue for you. After setting up for tow observe the lower right hand corner of your backup mirror. There is a small LED light that glows green normally but turns red after setup. It should go out after a few seconds. If it does not go out you probably have a continued battery drain from a module or two and it is about one DC amp. Also, if you have observed a periodic check engine light that condition is associated with the battery drain. The final chapter of this issue is yet to be written but I believe the issue involves the Acadia, Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave and the Chevy Traverse.

Lyle, I have a friend with a new Tahoe (nice car!!) and she has a battery drain problem too. Please report back if you find the trouble.

We have towed our Enclave (2008) for two days without unhooking and had no trouble. We have towed for a lot longer but unhooked those nights to use the car.

What year is the Chevy Traverse? Perhaps if it's newer it has something different than the 2008 Enclave. Thanks for the information.

Lyle, yes they must have changed something. We have had no issues at all with towing and pulling just the one fuse. Not had the check engine light flash either.

Will check this back up mirror LED light on our Acadia

The problem appears to be most evident when you don't unhook but start the engine, per the book, to lube the tranny. Then when you pull the fuse again and put the key in accessory and the shift in N. GM says you must turn the key all the way off (not in accessory) when you put the fuse back in. Keep you eye on that red light on the mirror.

Lyle, does this battery drain have anything to do with using the cigarette plug on the center counsel ? This location does remain hot (on) even after pulling the fuse.
