Satellite Dish Installation Questions 2003 Intrigue

Yahoo Message Number: 69906
I purchased a 2003 Intrigue last year. There has never been a satellite dish on it. I now want to have a Weingard Traveler (HD model)installed which will be used with Directv service with an HD DVR in the front and HD no DVR in the bedroom.
The marketing brochure for my coach said prewired for satellite. And I see there is a place on the roof for where to install the dish (center line of roof approximately above bedroom doorway).
In order to support HD DVR service, it seems I will have to have a two wire cable.

My questions:
1) How is the present cable running from the dish mount to the front routed? Through the roof? Or, over to a wall and down to the basement and back up somehow in the front? How difficult will it be to route a new cable?
2) Is there a cable running from that dish mounting point to the bedroom TV? If so, how difficult would it be to reroute a new cable if required? If not, how can I get a cable routed back there? (The bedroom TV is not in a slide; it is on passenger side at ceiling adjacent to closet front wall.)

Thanks!

And 3) Does that "pre wire" include a power cord and if not where would I best pick up power from in that location?

When I had my Motosat Dish installed they didn't worry with the prewire cable. They ran the control cable and one RF cable to a point of access avail able near the TV across to the Windshield PS pillar down to the cabinet located in front of the of the Co-pilot seat, where they installed the positioner and the LR receiver. The second RF cable was brought through the same point and around to the Hi fi cabinet where the receiver was installed for the bed room. The flasher system that controls the hi-fi system was augmented to control the second receiver from the bedroom. It also controls its own Digital adapter for the analog TV's. Took Cal about two hours to install the Satellite Dish and electronic mess. I installed the the digital adapters, through out the Bose system, and installed my own NAD/M&K 5.1 system.

If you are lucky there is a remaining un-switched outlet behind the TV. If not its near the Hi fi cabinet behind the the Hydro hot control panel/generator panel.

Gary,

On my Intrigue, the factory in-motion satellite was mounted near the front with the one coax routed directly down to the driver's side cabinet area. From here the coax was split with one going to the front TV and one to the rear TV. Of course with this set-up, the bedroom TV had to watch whatever the front TV was watching.
Later, I added the Winegard Travler so I could have HD on up to (4) receivers. I kept the Tracstar in-motion for TV(non-HD) while rolling down the road. I just ran the coax for the two satellites to a coax A/B switch for the front TV. The bedroom TV can only view through the Winegard system.
The original coax run from the factory was tight and really didn't allow much room for additional cables. So when I mounted the Winegard behind the Tracstar, I just ran all (4) coax on the roof to a new cutout slightly forward of the Tracstar and just above the driver's side cabinet. I used a 1 or 1-1/8" holesaw I believe and was able to fit all (4) Winegard coax cables. The Wingard unit comes with a cover plate that makes for a nice installation.
From the front cabinet, there was a factory coax cable that ran from the front to the bedroom. This allows another receiver to be used in the bedroom.
On your Intrigue, I would verify that a coax cable runs from the front to the bedroom. If so, then you could bring all (4) cables in the front area. If not, then I would bring (3) cables to the front and (1) to the bedroom.
Next, cut out the factory mark to see if the cable is there. It might allow you to feed the new cables to the front and bedroom. However, knowing Country Coach, they probably have this cable so locked down with cable ties that you won't be able to do that. If so, then seal the cutout and mount the Dish on top right there and run your cables across the roof to just above the front and bedroom TV's.
Working with the coax on the roof is much easier and allows some flexibilty to which route(s) you want to take.

Do the factory TV wires run through the ceiling?

Gary,

A year or so ago I upgraded my single output Kingdome to a dual output Kingdome. The single cable ran thru the AC ductwork fore and aft. I just followed that original cable with a second one for the dual output. I just had to get it down from the roof to the ductwork but that was not too difficult. As for power, you have power behind the bedroom TV but it does not run in the AC ductwork.
