Transmissionj/ Anti freeze Test

Is there a test to determine if your anti freeze or transmission oil needs to be replaced. I have a 2005 Inspire C9 Diesel. What is the appropriate antifreeze to install and the transmission fluid.

Stan,

If you have green hoses in your coach, search this forum for "green hoses". I think you can have your fluids chemically analyzed.

Stan the coolant installed at the factory was Fleetguard ES Compleat, which is an ELC can be either polyethylene glycol which is safe for the anamals, or ethylene glycol, This is a cummins product and is the only one that is blue. You can add an extender from cummins.I would suggest draining since it is about 7 years old. It will take about 12 gallons at about 15-20 dollars each. Take off the reservoir cap and remove plug at bottom left corner of radiator to drain. No flushing necessary.
Providing you changed filters at 5000 thousand miles and changed fluid after about 2-3 years you are good to go for many many miles. If not I would recommend draining fluid and changing fillters. Be sure to use Allison Transynd.

Derrel,

Thank You for the information regarding the Coolant. You mention two types, is one better than the other, and will either one take the extender.

Stan there is no difference other than the toxicty to animals, both will accept the extender. I ran mine for almost 7 years without needing an extender, about 68,000 miles.
