Thousand Trails/ROD Alert

Yahoo Message Number: 70499
This is of interest only to CC owners who are members of Thousand Trails and have purchased membership with Resorts of Distinction (ROD) through a home park in Oregon or Washington.
I am a member of Thousand Trails and WAS a member of ROD through the Whalers Rest, Oregon home park.
Last Friday I tried to make a reservation at an ROD park and was told that Thousand Trails has curtailed their affilliation with ROD parks in OR and WA. Therefore, my ROD membership is no longer valid. ROD membership fees are non-refundable. So I guess I am SOL. There goes my summer Northwest touring plan!
I was advised to call Thousand Trails representative, Jay Cuppell at (501) 852-0365 for further info. I tried that. His mail box is so full that it is not accepting any more messages....Imagine that! Their might be a few unhappy members wishing to express their frustration. Do ya think?
Anyone have any input? Please respond. I will advise if I learn any more details.

Still in the dark and flustered!

Sounds almost like my experience with TT.Got rid of my membership as soon as I good. They may have something to offer Class C's, 5th wheels and pop-tops but nothing for class A's, especially 40' or more.

ygrps-yiv-917961674 v0003a* {} All each of us can do is relate our own experiences...thus, I would like to say that we joined Thousand Trails in 2005 and retired in 2006 and went full-time. We travel with a group of four other motor homes and each year, after spending the winter in the Phoenix area, we pick a different part of the country and map out our plans to travel from May until November. We've been in every state except North Dakota and will hit that next year. We plan our routes so that we can stay at Thousand Trails/ROD parks whenever possible. It has been WONDERFUL for us...we've saved so much money and truly love the parks and the people. We upgraded in 2009 so that we can stay for three weeks and go right into another park. They have different programs now and most of the big parks have representatives that will explain the programs available. You can also call 800-859-7827 and eventually get to 'customer service'. Daron...sorry about the problems you have encountered but in checking with our TT representative, she said there was no problem regarding affiliations between TT and ROD...they had some sort of mix-up at Whaler's Rest but she said that is being corrected. We are traveling the northwest this year...from May until November...and our total lodging costs are about $430. It seems that there are tons of parks in the western US...not so many in the midwest/upper midwest...and a fair amount on the east coast. We rarely pay full price at any park...if we don't have a TT or ROD park available, then we use Passport America or RPI. We all pull toads so we can travel near and far to see everything in the area. If any of you are interested in the adventures of traveling with a group, let me know via private e-mail and I will add you to my list of people who receive my monthly travel journal 'Letters From The Road'. I also have a web site that has a picture album that goes with each letter. People seem to enjoy this but mostly I do it for my husband and me - to help us capture these priceless memories and enable us to remember all that we have done. Sorry this has gotten so long. Got carried away! Getting' hot here in AZ...ready to hit the road soon! Can't wait!! Sue 51672

My home park is in California.

I was able to make a ROD reservation in Oregon, no problem.
I seem to remember a rule: you can not stay in an ROD park within 100? miles of your home park.
This may be your issue.

Bob,

Thanks for your input. The lawyers on both sides resolved their issues. My membership (along with many others) was reinstated yesterday. The rule you are referring to is: "You are entitled to three visits per year of up to seven consecutive nights at ROD Plus resorts that are within a 125 air mile radius of your home resort." Daron
