Tire dealers in Tucson/mixed response

In the current thread about comparative pricing of tires in Tucson vs. Dickman Tire in J.C. One response indicates a significant greater charge from Dickman and another just the opposite. Neither specifies the tire manufacturer or tire model. The responses also include some comments on balancing but again seem unclear which facility used what type of balancing, etc. I'd suggest we compare Michelin XZE* 12R22.5 tires from different facilities and specify the type balancing used, Centromatic, static, and which of the dynamic balancing methods used. I understand there are a couple - the usual spin balance with the wheel and tire mounted vertically on the spin machine and another rarer method (supposedly better) where the wheel and tire are spun mounted horizontally. The actual name of the machines or methods escapes me at the moment.
I'd also be interested in hearing what users are doing about their Generation 1 SmartTire systems when replacing tires. I have used both PressurePro and SmartTire and prefer the internal wheel mounted sender approach. Has anybody used the Tire-Safe-Guard system?

Please can someone assist me with this ------ maybe a month ago there was discussion about a very helpful website -- thought it was called Fuelfinder or something like that - but it listed the diesel truck stops that are easy in/outs - it was easy to use while traveling as u just entered the area or city and names of truck stops and locations appeared -- I cannot find it and would love to see if anyone can help me -- thank you all

For price shopping, you just need to call around to find the best deal you can get at the moment. I could have saved $150 total at Dickman last month. Hardly worth the 2600 mile drive from Atlanta, and I was getting pretty paranoid about my 10 year old tires.
I left my working SmartTire in place. Good thing as it revealed that one of the inside duals did not have any air in it. I added a TireMinder to cover all the axles, including the tags and the toad. It did not catch the inside dual, since my duals are tied together with a T and a cat eye. If I did not have the SmartTire, I would probably remove the Ts and put a TireMinder on each individual dual. I will do this anyway if the Ts start giving me any problem.
Now I have to find someone in Central Illinois to remove the rusty steel bolt from my brand new steer tire and apply an inside patch/plug kit. That is after it stops raining, and I get my PTO wet kit delivered, and install it.

If you get a price that looks to good to be true, make sure you get it in writing, or get a confirmation from a manager. The first price I got from one dealer was significantly below everyone else. I was ready order them in and make and appointment. That is before they called me back to say that they couldn't get the 12R22.5s. They wanted me to put 315/80R22.5 all around. The revised price was in line with everyone else. Needless to say, they did not earn my business. By the way, the 12R22.5 may be more difficult to get, but it also means that they will not sit in the warehouse, and the freshness date should be very recent. All 6 of mine are 1011.

Folks,

Needing a set of 315/80R 22.5 XZA2 Michelins very shortly, I have looked into this pricing issue carefully. I hope you are all sitting: Here in the West anyway, you are going to pay around $1,000 per tire mounted, balanced, with all taxes(can't speak for California). This involves quotes from Arizona to Montana.
I spoke with Dickman in JC. They are about $800 per. They sell very large quantities of these particular tires and have a special arrangment of some sort. You are not going to find that pricing virtually anywhere else including other Les Schwab dealer. If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know.

In addition, the dual spacing on your drive axle would be too narrow with the 315's and dangerous.

Roger is correct: You join the Monaco International club and they have a discount program with Michelin. You can find it on the club website. You cannot see the details unless you are a member tho. However, to join the Monaco club, you must own a Monaco/Beaver/HR coach and provide that info. Methinks you might get away with lying about that part, but I also suspect that when you pull up to the Michelin dealer in a Country Coach to use the Monaco club program, there might be a little problem. That won't be a problem for you. Let us know what the discount is when you join.

That might work, but I don't have any friends in the Monaco Club. I don't associate with such riff raff, LOL! Seriously, if anyone knows someone in the Monaco Club who will be in Tucson starting the end of next week, please let me know. I wonder how much the discount is anyway.
