When pump is turned on, water pumps out the hose used to hook up sho

Well, this is a new one on me. I suspect a relay is not closing but not sure what to look for or check. This just started today. When the pump is turened on, water shoots out the hose that is used to hook up shore water. I tried cycling the pump to no avail.
Thoughts anyone? Good thing I am parked in my driveway and not on the road.

There is a check valve behind the input connection.
Sounds like it failed. Replacement probably less than $20.

Gary,

On our bus there is a check valve

mounted between the hose reel and the main plumbing. It's purpose is to allow water (city water connection) to flow from external water supply into your plumbing. Water flowing in the opposite direction closes the check valve and prevents water from coming out of your water hose. The water pump is on the bus plumbing side of the hose reel effectively T'd into the water supply line. When it runs, pressure is built up in the system against that check valve. If the check valve isn't closing or its seat is leaking you'll see water flowing out your city water connection. A quick temporary fix is to install a plastic garden hose shut off valve in your water hose. Just screw it in and turn it off when running the pump.

If you've been running water through your bus that contains high minerals, this could clog the valve and/or damage the spring return. Vinegar dissolves calcium and you might have some luck rinsing the internals of that valve with warm vinegar. Several application might be necessary. Use the pump to back flush out minerals. The valve just may be shot and require replacement. With city water, the valve just remains open which exposes the seats to the long term effects of calcification. On our bus you'd need to remove the hose reel to allow enough room to unscrew the PEX connection. Not sure how the Magna is setup. Good luck with it.

On my coach the water is control by electrical switches and the coach control center. I believe there is a stuck check valve.

Sounds like the check valve in your shore water input piping is stuck open... Try tapping on it with a wrench... If tapping makes it work, replace it 'cause it is gonna stick again... You can get one at Lowe's or Home Depot for a few bucks...

My problem is fixed. I replaced the check valve with a new one and the problem is solved. Luckily the valve was accessible without taking out the hose reel.
