Bus-Kote

While having our annual spring maintenance work done at Carrier & Son's in Eugene, Oregon we had them apply Bus-Kote to the roof.
This involved cleaning the roof, masking the edges, removing the AC & fridge vent cover(s) and applying a base coat, 2 coats of Bus-Kote and a clear top coat.
Carrier's crew did an excellent job on both the service work and the roof treatment. We'll post a note later this summer with our impressions of the results of this modification.
I'm looking forward to NOT having to clean and treat the roof 4 times a year with UV protectant to prevent white streaking and hopefully less internal heating from the hot summer sun.

Jim,

I have two coats of Bus Kote on our Inspire. You are correct, you have eliminated most of the white streaking from the roof, I feel we have dropped the temperature by 10 plus degrees. I would also suggest that you paint one coat of the Bus Kote on your Sun Roof that is over the shower. This is the best addition that I have made to our RV that has had a significant difference. On a hot day when you walk by the shower area of the sun roof the green house effect is significant and you can feel the heat radiating, thus increasing the temp inside the coach. I called Bus Kote before I painted the plastic sun roof to validate that it would not do any harm. Bus Kote rep indicated no problem. I almost forgot, I also had my son get on the roof and run a bead of caulking around the coach, leaving an area for draining on the passenger front corner and the driver side rear corner of the coach. This hasl completely eliminate any streaking.
I hope I have not written too much but we have great satisfaction with what we did. RV is also quitter. If anyone is thinking of doing this it is a snap, you really do not have to remove anything to apply to the roof or mask it goes on as easy if not easier than paint.
