Cat C9 Engine Temps

I am still having an overheating issue with our 2005 Allure w/Cat c9.
It's going into the shop next week after the mobile guy replaced both thermostas which helped but it still overheated 3 times 215+. My question is what temps are others reading with the Cat c9 engines on the 42' Allure ? Mine runs between 203 to 205 than on hills btwn 206 and 210.

That sounds about normal, depending on where the temp is taken. Is this hotter than it used to be?

I had similar reedings even in 40 degree ambient temps in North Dakota on my way east over short

periods. Then the temp would drop to 165 degrees, and finally it dropped to 165 to 170 degrees and

stayed there. Well it wasn't the sensors, it was the module that controls the radiator fan.. As there isn't one available for 4 to 6 weeks, by the time I get to Oregon Motor Coach the first week of June they will

have the part for replacement. My fuel milage has dropped 1 mpg, just when fuel is at its highest. But

7,7 to 7.9 isn't bad for a ISL as I travel now but have to stay at 55mph.

My 06 inspire with a C9 runs about the same as yours. My temps are coming from the engine ECM.

Thanks for all the info. The first time it overheated was on I40 CA/AZ line it was hot and the temp went over 225 and the engine started to shut down. New thermostats and no problems to Tennessee. Than on the way back on I40 it heated up to 215/218 3 times on flats not on the hills. It has always read at 203 to 205 sense we purchased it in Nov. On hills it goes up to 208 to 210 than it appears the fan comes on and it cools to 204. I can't figue it out. It seems to be an intermitten problem.
We had a great trip and love the coach. We will get it fixed and be back on the road soon!

Sounds like your fan controller could possibly be running intermittent. I have seen it on other coaches due the exact same thing. Next time it starts to get hot see if the fan is running on high speed.

when was the last time you cleaned the radiator exterior to remove the grease and road dirt build up?

When we had an intermittent overheating problem Chris Snyder had us turn the engine off and wait a few minutes before restarting. This seemed to reset things and we would be good until the next time. Level or mountains did not seem to make much difference. No one could really figure out if it was really overheating or the sensors were showing overheating and the engine would shut down. The CAT rep at the factory (back then) installed a bracket on the return water hose that goes back to the overflow reservoir so that the hose would not droop. There is a valve in that hose that allows air in the water to escape. This fixed the problem for me.
