dash air fan motor

My sister-in-law has a 1999 magna that has a loud noise when the blower motor is on, the noise changes with the speed of the fan. I think she has a bearing going bad and wanted some info on changing the fan motor or replacing the bearing. I took the access cover off and it appears that the fan assembly is in the front of the dash air assembly. If this is the case what is involved in removing the blower motor?

If that is enclosed in a black box ? If so, the entire unit must be removed from the coach, it then is split apart on the bench.
Mark every vacuum line in the area, pictures a good idea. with tape and numbered,. drain coolant at circulation pump and crimp lines. Drain and capture 134A and seal lines. This as I recall I did first taking the coach up to the near by auto shop for the 134A removal. Remove unit from coach and disassemble on bench. Remove screws and cut sealant splitting unit. There lies the two fan motors one for driver air other for pass air, mark both as if my recall is right one is cloak wise other is counterclockwise rotation.

Labor about 20 hours start to finish include the 134A recharge. refill coolant vac leaks. This was a great labor saver for CC on the build .....as for the repair this is a nightmare as the only way to get at the blowers is removing the black box.

If there had been extra length lines added for coolant, A/C, I first believed it could of been done in the coach. After doing it... the box has to be split on the bench and this insures all the parts are back in place for the two halves reassemble, screwed and reglued for air seal. That would of been a mistake to split the box in the coach.

The company that built this combo unit I believe is out of business so the availability of blower motors is probably best to rebuild your units. Hot rod shops will have contacts for rebuilders.
