OEM Walter Filter???????

95 Magna had a OEM water filter in the bay. Mine is gone. The space is limited to fit in the given space and use the cover. What was the OEM filter? Have looked and not found one that for sure will fit.

Not sure if ours are the same, but my OEM was a Hydro Life Hl-200; I've since added a second larger particle filter since the Hydro-Life filters are quite expensive and I'd rather sacrifice and more inexpensive filter should I need it in case of poor water,

Hydrolife H200...same in my 98 Affinity. Filters are more expensive....but protects against more bugs.

I did the same, I bought a housing and particle filter for those times when the water is not so good as in Yuma and other places in Arizona .
There are other filters out there that are a lot cheaper and probably more than adequate unless you are going to Mexico or someplace where the water is of questionable Quality. I stock up in Quartzite and I believe the same guy is at most FMCA rallies. You can also order on line maybe another member has the information. I am not with my coach so cannot look it up.

Thanks for all the responses. Now the problem is to find a Hydro Life Interior model. All I can find is the exterior model that has no mount and hose connectors. Found a picture of the interior model and that is exactly what I need. Find the Interior model on Hydro Life website but cannot find a supplier on line and Camping World only offers the Exterior model. Anyone know a source for the Interior model?

To use anything else will require considerable redoing the mount etc..

Thanks

We've been using Costco filters as well as filters from Home Depot. They work fine and are really cheap in comparison. I change them 2 or 3 times a year with no problems.

When the wife is a kidney transplant surviver, one looks at things different. The quality of filter becomes very important. Have been using bottled water but get so tired of packing it around.

I bought the exterior model and removed the hose fittings (they easily unscrew) and replaced them with the interior fittings from my old filter. Worker great!

Leonard, if the mount is still installed in the coach then you should be able to buy the exterior model and just unscrew the housing from the top assembly, that housing should be compatible with the mount in your coach. The interior filters are available at Camping World. See: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/hydro-life-replacement-filter/16008

Very big THANK YOU to all who helped on this question. George, you get the gold star. Thanks for putting me on to this link. They are an hours drive from home. Liked very much what I found on there website and placed an order for the 3M WV-B2 Whole RV Filter System. It will fit in the space provided. Like the ease of service for winter storage, etc..

Thanks again. The internet provides so many more options then "down town".

When my filter housing cracked, I called hydro life and they sent me a new interior housing for about $20

I have a kidney transplant too. Our immune systems are suppressed by the medications we have to take to prevent the kidney from being rejected, therefore we are more vunerable to infection than someone not taking these medications.
Although a water filter of the type that fits the house filter canister can filter out large-size bacteria, it can't be relied upon to catch smaller bacteria. Then if you are using a charcoal filter it will remove chlorine in the water down stream thus making your distribution lines vulnerable to bacterial growth since a coach sits with no water flow in the lines from time to time.
Then with a coach you have the issue of the fresh water storage tank which, even though you may disinfect it from time to tome, can harbor bacteria.

All this is why I drink only bottled water in the coach.

George,

Thanks for your response. The bottled water is what we have been doing. Hauling it around is something my back is starting to dislike. So we are trying to find a "lighter" solution. Will share your thoughts with the wife and we will discuss this.

I have been ordering filters from The Flow Pur Company. I buy the WCBCS975V. I have found that they do a really good job for the price,. You get 2 for $16.99 plus shipping,. I usually order 4 and that gets me through the year as we full time.

I concur. WaterWise makes an excellent, small distiller. I can easily get three gallons a day out of it. Google them.

Well, Leonard, I have back trouble now too. Nonetheless we still buy 24 or 28 count cases. My wife gets one end and I get the other. Not too bad that way. You could always buy the smaller packages as well.
When you're traveling in a coach the water sources really vary a lot. When a campground supplies its own water, typically from a well, they may not be as professional in treating it as a larger municipality. Another reason I drink bottled water.
