AC showing age

Our 99 Allure has been lived in full time since leaving the factory in November of 98. The AC's are still working great, but are they ever noisey. Have taken the covers off and moved the motors around the units run quite for a few minutes and then back to being noisey again. Anyone know if new rubber mounts for the motor can be obtained? Or has anyone else had this problem and come up with a fix?

You might try tightening down the mount bolts on the ACs. There are four of them on each AC (7/16?) that can be accessed from inside the coach. You must remove the shroud vent from the ceiling to access the bolts. Mine were loose and once I tightened them up, my ACs were much quieter than before. Don't tighten too much or you may damage the seal between the roof and the AC.

I had the rear one replaced right after I bought the coach and it was a lot louder than the front. I took the cover off on the roof and found the fan just touching the shroud...a little bit of adjustment/tightening to get it spinning free and it ran a lot quieter. (Still right over our heads in the coach so quieter is a relative term) Good luck.

I had the same problem with both of my low profile a/c - heat pump units; they were loud & vibrated the coach. Otherwise they cooled the coach just fine. I checked with several repair shops and most recommended replacement at a cost of approximately $3200. One shop however recommended that the a/c motor mounts and the squirrel cage rotors be replaced at a cost of approximately $1000. The other shops stated that it was not possible to replace the squirrel rotors. For obvious reasons I decided to try the $1000 option. They replaced both of the rotors (metal) on the exhaust side of each a/c unit and replaced the motor mounts. It was not necessary to replace the cooling side rotors as they were made of plastic material and not out of balance. If it were necessary to replace the cooling side rotors the cost would have been higher. Also, replacement of the cooling side rotors requires removal of the units from the roof and cutting the shroud to gain access to the part. I just got back from a trip after the repair and the a/c units worked great and I had no vibration or noise. My suggestion is that you find a shop that is capable of replacing the a/c squirrel cage rotors; if the units are otherwise operating as designed. My units were made by Dometic. The replacement rotors are now made of plastic material.

Thanks to all that responded to my request for suggestions. I have narrowed it down to the rubber mounts that are suppost to isolate the motor from the metal brackets that hold it in place. The rubber mounts are worn out allowing the bolts to touch the supports. We are in the panhandle of Florida and the heat index is nearing 105 so both AC's are running. Will be leaving Thursday to head North. As soon as I can,I will take things apart to try to come up with a fix.

Same Coach. Last year in Yuma orderd from Dometic Blower Motor Bushing kits Two! No More noise! They dont have Compressor bushings anymore. Bummer was 15 dollar shipping fee but worth it. Also you could try a RV Parts supply. Ken 99 Allure 30356
